Okies find Paradise!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/16/10
We recently attended a conference held in this gorgeous location. OUTSTANDING in every category! Enrique was especially helpful when it came to customer service. During check-in he was gracious and accomodating. And again in a very, very late night request he helped us with a smile. Westin's famous beds were indeed heavenly. Being able to sleep to the sound of the waves was unbelievably relaxing. I cannot wait to return with the fam in tow this time!

Spring Break
By Joseph, 4/10/08
It was a little run down but generally a pretty good place to stay. Nothing fancy about it but great location to the beach as the Spring Breakers knew.

THE HOTEL HAS AN EXCELLENT LOCATION (ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE BEACH).. UPON WALKING INTO THE LOBBY, THERE WAS A STRANGE SCENT.. SMELLED LIKE OLD POPPOURRI GOING THRU VENT SYSTEMS. GOOD FOR THE MONEY.

Good location, poor service
By L. David, 5/7/07
I've stayed at lots of Sheratons. The Yankee Trader has a good location, but other things need improving. For example, there is a safe in the room that doesn't work. I complained and they said they would have to replace the unit, but no offer was made when this could take place. I would in particular avoid Don Schuler's restaurant. It was raining hard out and I had little chance to go anywhere else. I felt I was overcharged for drinks particularly Champagne at $16 for a mini bottle, and never offered the price before or a wine list. I would suggest double checking everything ordered as to price. At this hotel everythings costs a lot including water bottles at $4 each. I quess it's ok as long as you don't plan on eating here.

Great Experience!!
By Bob, 3/7/07
Entire hotel was clean and convenient. Carpet in room was a little stained...furniture was dated...view was superb. Hotel is within walking distance of many restaurants and bars...most with nightly music. Just one block from a water taxi pickup point. Would definitely return.

Great location but awful service
By Dhirsum, 9/5/06
The beach is beautiful and just across the street. You cannot beat that. But the total sense of apathy from the staff is surprising. They seem to be swamped with work and that may explain it. No one smiles or greets you unless you have a tip in your hand. Most requests made on the phone are ignored or forgotten. So stay on if yours is a short stay. The price looks cheap but then everything from parking to internet starts tacking on. You will not find water in your room and will end up spending money at the vending machine too.

Wonderful vacations in a wonderful hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/31/06
This hotel deserves one and only qualification is wonderful. Once you arrive, it just feels like you are back home, the staff recognizes you from the precedent visits from last year, such a kind staff. We have been received by Cameron and Xavier, always there to help us. We had a suite, in front of the sea, with a nice balcony, over the sand, very spacious. The only thing I could reproach is maybe have a microwave in the room as well as matress just a tiny bit more comfortable, but there were no problem to sleep in them .. The bathroom was wonderful with its jaccuzi and its huge mirror. We are waiting for one and only thing now is coming back!! Patricia, Sandy and Estelle Anduran. France, August 2006

We loved it!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/8/06
Everything was exellent! It was only one problem: we went there in end of March, 2006. Next door is the big constraction going on. We did not know about it - I would ask for a huge discount in price! I was afraid to be in outdoor pool - huge crane was on top of it and "anything can happen".

We stayed here last year BUT....
By Kevin, 2/7/06
at the price they are charging this year, we just can not swing it. We are going back to the Fort Lauderdale area in March again and we are looking for a place to stay. Our experience at the Yankee Trader was outstanding EXECPT the stupid airlines lost our luggage for 24 hours, I can not blame that on the Y. Trader. We checked in late and the consiaire (sp??) was excellent, very friendly and knowledgable. He always had the answer for any question we had execpt once and a 2 minute phone call was all it took. I have and will continue to recommand this hotel to anyone visiting Fort Lauderdale. One final point, we checked in but did not have an ocean view room. Once I saw the ocean view, I told the Mrs. we were moving if there was an open room. Not only was there an open room BUT there was no additional charge. You may display my name and hopefully someone at the Yankee Trader will call me with a price I can afford.

BAD SERVICE
By Janie, 7/18/05
That were 3 couples in our party there to celebrate 3 borthdays. We reserved in April for 4 day stay in July and asked for 3 rooms near each other. We then called after the rooms were reserved just to make sure we could get them all together. We were told not problem called week before arrival date. We did and again told no problem and to call dya before, again we did and told OK your all set. We arrived and the closest we could get was 2 rooms a floor away and the 3rd in another building! We had to pay $20 extra night each! We had a late flight out to depart and we askedto keep 1 room and few hours past check out time and we had to apy an additional $50. We were not happy with the very poor customer sevice. During our check in fiasco the manager would not come out to talk to us we had a front desk person go back and forth (and very unwillingly also) to relay our requests. The drink prices are so very over priced it is rediculous! The indoor bars are not open during the day so forget going in to get a cold beer and to cool off. I would not recommend this hotel!
