Good cookies, tired rooms
By ,
I spent 2 nights in 2 different rooms, and as far as staff and service I was pleased and everything was up to Doubletree standards. There was a lounge on my floor with fresh fruits, fresh vegetables. Hot soup and fresh iced tea and lemonade. Also bottled water and mixed nuts and the likes. That's the good Room #1 smelled like a grow house. A/C was noisy, bath was small and very dated. The beds were clean and comfortable. I checked out and then found later I needed to stay another night. Room #2 was also fine other than the bath, this one had mold in the tile joints, peeling paint in the trim and evidence of plumbing leaks from the floor above. Overall in Miami it is OK for the $$ but the rooms need remodeling. Breakfast is good but ask for a menu, there are better deals ala-carte than there is just going with the buffet that they push. Eggs Benedict $10 Vs. Buffet $13 Their restaurant is good but I was unimpressed with the Ribeye I had for dinner and would probably opt for the food available in the bar next time. Parking is easy and SECURE! I was traveling for a job on a Miami client and had an expensive work vehicle loaded with tools and parts. The parking has an 8' chain link fence, a manned gate and a guard on a golf cart patrolling the area. This is one of the few hotels in Miami that I was comfortable leaving a vulnerable $110K+ vehicle full of goods overnight. For that=priceless. The elevator area was being tiled with marble while I was there so hopefully this a sign of things to come.

Room to Improve
The concierge and front desk staff were quite friendly and helpful. However, this hotel has a few customer service issues. First, they were overbooked and we were put up in another hotel for the first night. Fair enough except we had prepaid for the parking and we could not get a refund. Turns out that the parking lot is managed by another company. Second, the bathrooms needed more attention from housekeeping. The sinks had a heavy film of grime, the towels were gray, and the facial tissues were not replaced. Third, a frustrated room service employee informed me that I could not order from the menu my room had and he would send me a new one. He sent up a menu just like the one I had except he had ripped out all of the middle pages. The staples were opened up to prove it and the booklet was rumpled as though someone mishandled it. When I called back to place an order, another room service attendant informed me that all foods from the original menu were available and he was sorry that I was told otherwise. I told him I hoped the disgruntled guy wouldn't be cooking my food. Fourth, one of our rooms was canceled a day early. We managed to get it sorted out after a lengthy discussion and proof that we had prepaid. The hotel laid the blame on Priceline, although I am not sure how they could do that when we confirmed our dates at the time of check-in. Lastly, we couldn't leave without one last bit of drama. The hotel was very nice about letting us checkout 3 hours late at no additional cost. However, the parking attendants made us pay 70 percent of the full cost of another day. Needless to say I was not pleased considering they owed us for the first night we didnt get to stay there. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to individuals who need the convenience of the location and safety of the hotel over other features.

A very pleasant surprise.
By ,
My plane was taken off the schedule and I was sent to this Doubletree. The service was very nice. Greeted by a large granite table in the lobby, open, not stuffy. Dark brown (mahogany?) glass showcases. The "mart" was designer showcases. I was handed a WARM chocolate chunk and walnut cookie in an envelope at the desk. Delightful, since I missed my connecting flight to Minneapolis. Nice high percale cotton douvet, big screen tv. Free shuttle to and from the airport. I would stay again.

5-months and elevators still broken!?
By ,
Wow, they are still on one elevator at this point and time. We were on the 10th floor and waited 10-minutes and finally walked the stairs. Once we got down the elevator had reached the lobby! The rooms were decent and good size. The bed was relatively comfortable. We had to move in at 1 am because the ac wasn't cooling well enough. The room down the hall wasn't any better. The temperature on both thermostats read 62 degrees but it felt like 78! They comped us on breakfast, but the buffet was nothing to call home about. The price wasn't bad at a 130/night, but the ac and elevators were a real downer, no pun intended.

Everything was broken, and the room smelled bad
By ,
My wife and I stayed at the hotel this weekend for a convention. 2 of the 3 elevators were broken all weekend, they had 1 working elevator for a 12 floor hotel, people waited up to a half hour with their luggage for a single elevator trip. The Jacuzzi was broken. There was hair in our bathtub. The room smelled like mildew and stale cigarettes. The rooms were large for the price, and the beds and pillows were very comfortable. The staff (besides the parking people) were friendly, Once I realized the elevators were broken I complaned and they were able to move me from the 10th floor to the 2nd, so I was able to use the stairs, not really a viable option from the 10th floor. only thing I asked for was more towels and they were brought to my room within 5 minutes. I was told the hotel was just sold and they are going to do major renovations, after that is done I could see staying there again, but not until then.

Very Nice Stay
By ,
I had a lovely stay back in march with my boyfriend at the time. We were upgraded to a nice room on the club level. The only problem was the A/C that wasnt working very well & the location being so far away from the beach but other than that the Jaccuzi was a delight. I would definitly go back. Becky.

expected better service
By ,
was treated very bad by the night manager who was rude when asked to clear up information that was given by a desk clerk, however a frontdesk employee handled the situation the next day and we were satisfied

good choice
By ,
Everything seems to be perfect for this hotel. I stayed there for 3 days, and I enjoyed every single moment in this doubletree hotel. they have friendly people and the service is not bad at all. the swiming pool was cool and the hot tub was excellent. They have a nice restaurant/bar with amazing food. I can't wait to go there next year.
