Good cookies, tired rooms
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/24/11
I spent 2 nights in 2 different rooms, and as far as staff and service I was pleased and everything was up to Doubletree standards. There was a lounge on my floor with fresh fruits, fresh vegetables. Hot soup and fresh iced tea and lemonade.
Also bottled water and mixed nuts and the likes.
That's the good
Room #1 smelled like a grow house. A/C was noisy, bath was small and very dated.
The beds were clean and comfortable.
I checked out and then found later I needed to stay another night.
Room #2 was also fine other than the bath, this one had mold in the tile joints, peeling paint in the trim and evidence of plumbing leaks from the floor above.
Overall in Miami it is OK for the $$ but the rooms need remodeling.
Breakfast is good but ask for a menu, there are better deals ala-carte than there is just going with the buffet that they push.
Eggs Benedict $10 Vs. Buffet $13
Their restaurant is good but I was unimpressed with the Ribeye I had for dinner and would probably opt for the food available in the bar next time.
Parking is easy and SECURE! I was traveling for a job on a Miami client and had an expensive work vehicle loaded with tools and parts. The parking has an 8' chain link fence, a manned gate and a guard on a golf cart patrolling the area. This is one of the few hotels in Miami that I was comfortable leaving a vulnerable $110K+ vehicle full of goods overnight.
For that=priceless.
The elevator area was being tiled with marble while I was there so hopefully this a sign of things to come.
