Be Aware of Horrible Staff Memeber Service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/17/10
I visited the Newport Beachside Resort for an event for my 2 and 1/2 year old daughter on Oct. 16th 2010. Let me tell you I am an frequent traveler staying at over 10 hotels in a year and I have never been treated so bad before by a hotel staff member, a supervisor at that.
We finished at the event and requested our car from the valet. After taking about 15 minutes the car arrived and parked right in front of the hotel. Let me mention that the valet area was not busy at all as it was when we arrived earlier that day. When my mother and I noticed the car we proceeded to it. My mother held my daughter's hand and walked around to put her in her car seat and I had my hand on the handle of the sliding door of the mini van. At that instance a man by the name of Rafael started screaming to the valet "Move, Move!!" and waving his hand for him to drive forward. At this time I was very scared because my mother had started to open the door to put my 2 year old daughter in the car and myself, which I am 8 months pregnant, with twins, was also about to get into the car. I yelled to the valet that was driving the car, "Wait, wait, my daughter, my daughter". Rafael which apparently is a supervisor of some sort heard me since he was only a couple of feet away and completely ignored my plea. He again gestured his hands and continued to scream at the valet "Move, Move!!". At this point the valet moved forward after hesitating after I screamed out. Thanks to God my mother was able to pull my daughter away from the door and I as well let go of the handle and moved back. I immediately turned to Rafael and said how can you tell him to move forward when we were getting into the car. I was so nervous and frightened at the time and again I asked him didn't you see me getting into the car and my daughter on the other side getting into the car. To make it even worse he didn't even look me in the eye or apologize. He just said "okay, okay" I continued to make him realize what could of just happened. I asked him again that he needed to be more aware and tried to make him realize that what he had just instructed the valet to do could have caused a major injury to myself, my unborn babies, or my daughter. The valet noticed what had happened and was very apologetic.
The worse part and the only reason I am writing this and want everyone to be aware of what kind of hospitality is being offered at this Hotel is that this man did not even apologize or show concern for what had occurred. I understand it might of been a mistake and he could have not seen us, but take action and man up to what happened. He completely ignored me and my complaint and did not even ask if we were okay. To make it even worse he gave my mother and I both a very bad attitude and rolled his eyes at me. A simple sign of compassion would have been suffice to calm us down from what had just happened, but instead we received a roll of the eyes and a horrible attitude.
Especially in the hospitality industry staff members should treat every guest with a welcoming and comforting attitude and we received the complete opposite from Rafael Montes de Oca. I hope that action will be taken so that this does not happen to anyone else.
Please be aware of the service you will receive from staff members at this hotel.
