ok, but with issues
By njcouple, 3/16/12
overall not a bad hotel given the location and price ($60 per night thru kayak). the room was clean so nothing to complain there. yes it's very basic no fridge only tv. but it's true you can hear people outside. we were lucky because there wasnt a lot of foot traffic that night. otherwise it wouldve been unbearable. door had a huge gap on the floor, that's where the noise is coming from. no breakfast included. they have wifi but only in the lobby not in the room. the pool is heated. we checked in at night only 1 receptionist working so it took us almost 45 minutes with 3 people waiting before us. and yes we had to pay 2.50 extra each night for some resort fee. walgreens kfc nearby. shuttle bus is the same one that all the hotels in the area use. 20 minutes late, 5 minute ride took around 15 minutes to get to universal studios because it needs to stop by 5 or 6 other hotels. these were the pros and cons for us.

I liked it!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/1/11
It was nice there! Really Quite! Springs did not pop out of my bed either. They have a fancy gym and pool! I gave them a 3 star because it was so relaxing and quite there. We even didn't had to rent a car because they had free shuttles there that took us to every park over there! It was really fantastic! We save allot of money using the free shuttles.

worst ever
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/25/11
Am not terribly picky about hotels, eg., I like Motel 6 just fine. Monumental Movieland was the worst I've ever experienced. The room seemed okay when we walked in, but when we awoke in the morning it smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. Then there was no hot water. When my husband complained to the manager, the guy could not have been less interested, gave some vague story about there being a fire in the hotel that caused the smoke. Made no offer to refund some of our money or offer any alternative. Am still washing the smokey smell out of our clothes. And the breakfast buffet in the adjacent was lousy, too. Had much better experiences at the Econo Lodge down the street.

NEVER AGAIN
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/21/09
The only thing which was good about this block as carnt call it a hotel was that we got out after 4 days. We was on honeymoon and i was crying to get out it was Very damp cold it smelt we lived out of our suitcases and everytime we took something out of the case it was wet, i had bites all over my legs, then after all this the toilet overflowed the windows didnt open. Staff not very helpful they said they had a games room but the door was locked with nothing in there, then we moved to the Holiday Inn on Kirkman Road which was like a palace could not fault one thing about it would go there again. NEVER AGAIN
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/1/09
lets just say the only thing i liked about this place was the toilet paper.. very soft and durable : ) which is always nice.. first off there was NO FIRE ALARM in the room at all. there was a place for it but it was taken down for some reason. which didnt make me feel too safe.. its very loud too. staff arent very pleasant. and the worst thing was probably that the whole place was very moist.. the sheets felt wet.. the carpet.. everything. even with the ac completely off everything still felt wet.. stayed here for 3 nights and will never go back again.. oh! and we had the do not desturb sign up and they came in to clean anyways.. also not very comforting. hopefully this is of some help!

value for money.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/30/09
Great location on I drive. The rooms are spacious and clean. Staff were helpful and cheerful. Some did not have good english. I read some of the negative reviews before my holiday but all my experiences were positive. We were a party of nine in total with 3 rooms and we all agree we would stay there again.

How Could this be rated a 3 star hotel??
By Frances Soley, 3/16/09
Booking through Hotwire was the biggest mistake. I have taken this kind of risk with Priceline many times and always come out on top, with only positive things to say. We live in Miami, FL - just a couple of hours from Orlando we travel to Orlando a couple times a year so we really just wanted somewhere safe and comfortable to sleep on our trip to Mardi Gras at Universal. Since we didn't plan to spend any time in the room, other than sleeping and dressing we didn't want to spend a lot of money - Hotwire advertised 3 star hotels in the Universal area for $40. I was hesitant, but I read thier star rating criteria and I figured, what the heck. Monumental Movieland is nowhere near a three star hotel - maybe a one star at best. If I had booked with the hotel I would have checked out the minute I saw the room - but no refund with Hotwire. The hotel is in an excellent location for a Universal trip, the room was clean. That's the best I can say about it. The beds were the WORST I've ever slept in. The mattresses were so old that the springs were popping out. The pillows were another headache, it felt as if it was old foam that had fallen apart and placed in a pillow case. After trying to tuff it out after a couple of hours we left to a friend’s hotel room just a block down. This may sound like an exaggeration but it wasn’t. I couldn’t imagine not sleeping to have another long day to then drive home with out rest. I don't mind basic accommodations (to say the least) when I don't intend to spend much time in the room, but this was so much worse than I could have imagined. How could they represent a three star hotel?? How could Hotwire call this a 3 star hotel?? I didn't complain to the hotel because I didn't book through them directly and I'm not sure how they represent themselves in the "ratings". In summary - the hotel was clean and conveniently located and if that's what I was expecting it would have been fine - but that's not what I think of when a place is rated three stars I have complained to Hotwire and I will never be foolish enough to use their service again. When I called hotwire to complain I was told that it was a three star hotel that they go by ratings. That it was up to their clients to write the reviews.

Horrible
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/8/08
I stayed at this hotel, it was horrible. I would never reccomend it. When we got to our room we were missing two light bulbs and the t.v. remote. During our stay the bathroom light bulb burnt out twice. Also friends of our were staying down the hall... they had bed bugs. One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in.
