30 reviews for Lago Mar Resort and Club, Fort Lauderdale
Heavenly
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/13/09
Read good reviews online and stayed one night on the way to Key West. It was clean, beautiful. The grand mosaic floors and flower-perfumed courtyard are two things I will always remember, as well as watching the sunrise while swimming in the ocean. The beach is gorgeous. They have a business office with computers and printers for the guests' use, which is very convenient for printing discount coupons and boarding passes. On my first visit, I couldn't connect to the wireless Internet on my Mac and told them about it. On my second visit a few days later, the problem was solved. The Lago Mar Resort made me fall in love with Ft. Lauderdale. I highly recommend it and plan on going back again.

I hope it gets better
By Jane, 03/25/09
I was a frequent guest at Lago Mar but through the years it has gone to the dogs. The last time I was there the air conditioning in our room gave me a horrible sinus infection which is probably due to mold, a few of the guests were drunk and noisy and one young man walked around wearing a shirt with the most profane slogan on it and the staff didn't do anything. Remember this is supposed to be a classy place. The food has never been very good but we managed. So, Lago Mar went from being a real dream of a place and worth the price to a run of the mill hotel that may have the best beach and alot of fancy furniture, but I can get the towels hung over the balcony railings at the Holiday Inn.

Best place I have ever went :D
By Laura, 03/18/09
me and my famil havw traveled here from the UK for 2/3 weeks every year for 6 years. it is truly the best place i have ever been and i would reccomend it to anyone who is considering. the staff are all so pleasant and hepful, there is a real cheery atmosphere, it is in a great location for restraunts and bars and not far from a shopping centre. its not just the location or the area that makes the holiday here, its the hotel aswell i have visited many places in florida and in other parts of the world but this has by far been my favourite...i cant wait to go back again thins year. x x x

not egalitarian treatment and beware of the pool
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/28/09
We just returned from Lago Mar 2/27/09 with mixed reviews. The beach was very nice and staff very friendly. It's all the other things that are lacking from a so called 4 star hotel. We were verbally assaulted at the pool for taking someone's chair which hadn't been used for two days but was "saved"?. We complained twice about reserved chairs and we're assured that there were none. Wrong!!! The next day more than a dozen "occupied" signs were planted on chairs. The staff assured us that the pool manager would be notified, but never was. We talked to him and he admitted some long time customers did indeed have reserved seats and it is awkward at times. Thus, if the hotel had been full ,choices would be minimal. Definitely some communication problems here. We took the shuttle and it cost us $9 to go a little over a mile. At other 4 star hotels we were always given an overview of the grounds, activities, and how the hotel functions. Not here, so learn fast that gratuities are automatically added, thus you could double tip. The hotel room was o.k. with a closet that was difficult to open because the bed was up against it (till I moved it) and the bathroom at an irregular angle making it hard to get around. If you go for the beach it's great but the price (food and beach chairs) as well as the special "perks" for regulars doesn't lend this hotel to be an egalitarian opportunity. Our rating for the "4 star hotel", deserves to be more like an expensive 2.

NO RETURN -GERMAN AT FRONT
By JoanS, 07/14/08
I loved everything except the rude and arrogant German manager who worked the front desk. He was short, discourteous, gossiped and made fun of guests, and was generally someone I wanted to avoid at all costs. I am a sophisticated 53 yo professional woman who has stayed in exotic resorts for both business and pleasure all over the US. I am sure he has cost this resort many repeat customers. JS

Nice Place
By yes, 06/22/08
We stayed here in 7/06 and thought it was a real gem! We loved the quaintness of its Olde Florida Feel! The Private Beach alone is worth the stay. We like the Privacy of the Old Style Rooms with Outside Entrance. We had an Ocean Front suite and it was very clean and well stocked! The balcony opened right up to the beautiful beach! The grounds were clean and well kept. The Staff was very professional and friendly. The piano bar in the evening was very romantic and we have reservation for 7/08, and looking forward too it!

Best Vacation in 20 Years
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/16/08
This place is not cheap but it is worth every penny. You really get the feeling that the employees care about you and want your stay to be a success. I can't wait to go back.

We're going back again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/10/08
We stayed at the Lago Mar in May of 2007 and had a wonderful time. The one bedroom suite was everything we expected and the food and service were great. The poolside area was clean and the friendly staff attanded to our every need. The computer room allowed us to keep in touch away from home and to print our return flight boarding passes. For a location so close to the airport, can't beat it here! We hired a car and went out out every evening to the Seminole Hard Rock Casino and the Mardi Gras greyhound track and casino - all good fun. We're counting down the days until our next stay in May 2008.

2 stars too many
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/30/07
I stayed here based on 4 star rating. My family and I usually stay at Marriott Harbor Beach which is also rated 4 stars. The comparisan not even close. We had a suite with an outside entrance (like a motel). There were no wash cloths or face towels in 4 days. The resturant was terrible and the service poor. I called to ask for wash cloths and face towels and was only sent the wash cloths. I was never told about the outdoor entrance and that alone would have been enough to make us not stay. To compare this place to the Marriott as both 4 stars is like comparing General Patton to Private Benjamin. Pay a little extra and go to the Marriott.
