Would go back
By Jackie B, 2/28/12
This was our first trip to Key West, and we are very happy we stayed at Crowne Plaza. Our room was pretty but on the small side. Beautiful lobby, personnel all helpful and polite, excellent restaurant/bar on site. The biggest plus is the location on Duval Street, especially if you love to walk and gawk and party. We had no problems with WiFi connection, pests, noise, what-have-you. This is not a resort hotel. If you want that type of atmosphere, this is not the place. The main drawback was we could not open the windows (our room on the 5th floor faced Duval Street, and I am somewhat claustrophobic). We were there during the winter season, so the lodging was fairly expensive, so be prepared. In summary, location, location, location!

In the heart of it all.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/21/12
Are room was NOT cheap, shop around. We enjoyed our balcony and the pool but the streets are very noisy until 3-4 am. We started finding earwig type bugs and were moved but the people next door were VERY noisy. Next time we will stay off of Duvall St and closer to the water. Scooter rentals were fun and the sunset cruise was great! Key West is for adults

Horrible
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/28/11
Don't even try to call the front desk, the phone is always busy. The A/C was dripping onto the floor on arrival, soaking the carpet between the sleeping area and the bathroom and door. The toilet is loud and can't handle anything more than urine. When reporting the second clog, the clerk was surprised we were still in the room because she had noted that we required a room change. Great location means nothing if your in-room comfort is non-existant. The night clerk was as helpful as possible trying to accommodate, but was limited by the resources available. Parking was $20 a night, a refrigerator in the room was another $25 a night. No night maintenance staff to assist with guest comfort. Definitely will not return or recommend to others.

Won't recommend to anyone. Very upset!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/19/10
Hotel lobby was beautiful - beyond that a big thumbs DOWN!!. Was excited about our trip because of the pictures that the hotel displayed on their website. HOWEVER, the pictures were totally misrepresentative!! We were so disappointed. To top it off we were not only charged $20.00 per day to park in the parking lot of the motel - but were also charged tax on parking!!! WTF? The bathroom was dirty (tub had hair in it from previous guests) uugggghhhh. This was our first trip to Key West and IF we are ever to return we will definitely NOT stay here again. The only positive I can give this hotel is location.

Full of History and Friendly Staff
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/31/10
I enjoyed the setting of the hotel, the lobby was exceptional, the reading level like a page out of a book, the pool was a hidden treasure, and Hemmingway's Suite was just what I was looking for. There were no ghosts in this suite or I would have known about it. There was only the presence of what once was in atmosphere. There were no bugs or rats; just a beautiful setting. I would definitely stay there again to enjoy the roof top bar with the spectacular view of the Gulf and the Alantic. The restaurant Jack's Seafood was superb in professional fine dining with a casual flair. The meal was so delicious and the presentation made it appetizing to view. During breakfast the waiter stood with his hand behind his back waiting for our order. The french toast had fresh fruit on top sprinkled with powder sugar....oh so delicious. The manager was professional friendly and definitely inviting as he welcomed us. I would highly recommend this historic hotel and restaurant. If there were ghosts available that could have been fun! No such luck...I so wished Hemmingway would pay me a visit. I did hear noise in the hall but there were real people in the hallway. I noticed a man from the front desk was helping a woman in the next room get settled because she was in a wheelchair. I guess personal service doesn't get any better than that. I could see his kindness towards her as I looked through the peek hole of my door. I did have a few issues but they were quickly resolved to my satisfaction with the utmost professionalism. If there was a ghost don't fret over it....I have seen more than my share in my lifetime. I guess you got more for your money than I did. Personal service from beyond....I was on floor 5 and 6 without one single encounter. I guess perhaps I should have tried another floor so that I could have experienced everything....maybe next time. :-)

Does Anyone Care Around Here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/28/10
I felt invisable!!!! Even the mice in my room did'nt seem to mind me there. I had dinner with bugs that were so big they had independent head movment and better manners than the staff. I'm going to stop here but I can tell you a LIE would be more beliveble than the truth. good luck if you stay here

Location!
By Joe, 1/5/10
Remember this is an older, historic hotel, but well maintained and in the BEST location on Duval. If you are concerned about price, don't go to Key West! Rooms are clean and comfortable. For those who must walk everywhere this is the place to stay.

Excellent Location for Fantasy Fest
By suzanne pietrowski, 7/30/09
There is a variety of accommodations in Key West that range from - Inn, Resort, B&B, condo, cottage and hotel. La Concha is a Crowne Plaza hotel chain with an historical twist. The average king size rooms are nice, clean, pleasantly decorated albeit not huge. The architecture is decidedly 1920s tropical. We stayed here during Fantasy Fest 2007. We expected less than a perfect stay given that the hotel was very packed with lots of festival antics going on. To our surprise, service was very very good and hotel management kept a lot of the craziness in check. The rooftop, normally open to the public, is always a perfect place to check out the sunset and views. During FF there were times that it was only open to guests and it made a nice roost to watch the goings on from a distance. The lobby takes you back to a more romantic time, and its a great place to sit, sip a drink and relax. Although we normally stay in smaller B&Bs, we did love our stay and would stay again - especially for Fantasy Fest, because the location is ideal for events on Duval.
