Flamingo Gay Resort, St Petersburg

The guests and staff were very friendly, and no one batted an eye that I am hetero! There's a great pool with a bar built for it. It's close to the beach and the neighborhood is nice. Ignore any reviews before the renovation, they were for the same building, but the new owners tossed everything out and started from scratch.

Flamingo Resort was restored in Summer 2009 for a Grand Opening. Just about my home away from home. The 'personality' of the place is still in developement. Hetero-centric neighbors in apartments across the street are adjusting. The Sunday Tea-Dance Noon-9:PM cannot be denied.

My adult daughter and I knew something wasn't kosher when we saw a pile of dirty sheets on the floor as we entered the lobby. There were also adult video stores across the street. The clerk was sporting a black eye and her little girl was running around with a piece of greasy fried chicken. A couple of unsavory-looking characters were loitering in the lobby. As we approached our room, the word, "dump" entered our minds. The windows, mirrors, drapes, lampshades and upholstered chair were all stained and dirty. A drawer smelled as if something had died in it and the smoke detector was hanging out of the wall by a single wire. Dirt and mold showed underneath where the sink's recoating was peeling off. Towels consisted of only one washcloth and one small hand towel per guest! We checked out right away and went elsewhere. I would have preferred a park bench. The next day we passed by and saw the police there. It should be condemned! Not fit for a dog!

I had booked a week stay over the internet....when I got there, I knew I made a mistake. My room was very dirty, rugs were stained, toilet and sink rusty, old, leaking. Broken door lock. The room smelled horribly....musty, dirty, body odor type of smell. We stayed ONE night and ran for our lives....HORRIBLE, for sure don't bring your children. The breakfast area was OK as was the pool. The pics on the websites make the place look OK....WRONG!

The breakfast was good. The room was in fairly good shape and clean. Overall hotel appearance was fair. Location was good and easy to access off I-275. Might stay there again.

There was not too much that I didn't like about this hotel. The only downside I can possibly think of is that the rooms, while quite nice, comfortable, and roomy are not quote unquote luxury (if that is what your looking for).

It was a very clean hotel. they do need to upgrade their pillows. were very flat. but our overall stay was pleasant
