A Tradition Gone Forever
By Russell, 8/21/11
We first visited this hotel in 1985. We were on our first trip to Disney World with the kids. It was only by accident that we found it. The HJ we had booked had our reservations screwed up and were rude to top it off. So we just traveled on down the beach and came to the Holiday. What a great place it was for the kids with the indoor pool, game room and the theater. It became our annual stop from then on. The place was damage by several hurricanesand they always rebuilt it. To our sadness the last time they just demoed it, It will be always in our memories for its good location, clean rooms and more then friendly staff. Its sad to seen the big condos going up all around. Sign of the times.

They need to rebuild it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/6/10
Probably too late but they need a hotel like this again. We went every year to escape. I loved the indoor pool, arcade, hamburger joint, beach, everything about the place and miss it alot. And hey, the opening sequence of "Jaws 2" was filmed there so you can't go wrong with that!

Always a great time
By Donna, 6/17/08
Back in the 1980's we use to go there regularly for get-away weekends with our young daughter. They had a lot of theme weekends for the off-seasons which were always a lot of fun. With the indoor pool and movie theater, even bad weather didn't spoil the fun. My daughter still has fond memories of the made-to-order Mickey Mouse pancakes at the Sunday champaigne brunch. I recall one time where we had sing alongs on the beach and roasted marshmallows. Sorry to learn the place is no more- hope they bring it back... unfortunately, I fear it will reappear as one of those souless highrises.

Gone
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/28/07
I am from this area and my family and I used to visit this hotel every year anyway. It was an old hotel (built in the early 1970,s) but was way ahead of it's time. The location was great...directly on the beach. It was one of the original buildings on Navarre Beach. The interior pool area and holidome were state of the art for the time it was built. It is now gone. Hurricane Opal heavily damaged it in 1995 but it was rebuilt better than ever. It couldn't withstand the fury of Hurricane Ivan in 2004 that destroyed the hotel, Navarre Beach, and much of Santa Rosa and Escambia County, FL and Baldwin County, AL. The hotel was damaged beyond repair and was razed in 2005/2006. Now all that's left is a parking lot and a few palm trees. Rumor is that Holiday Inn or another chain is going to build another hotel on the sight but Holiday Inn Navarre Beach will never truely be replaced.

Looking foward to returning!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/4/06
My family and our friend's family stayed in March of 2003. The rooms were bright and comfortable. The beachfront was a matter of feet from our rooms, so we enjoyed the beach until the late afternoon. However, given Florida's unpredictible weather, it began storming by the evening, but the hotel's indoor pool really saved the evening! We swam and didn't worry about the weather. Now, two years later, we are planning a return trip and this Holiday Inn is definantly where we're making a pit stop.

The best place to go
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/10/05
We first went to the HOliday Inn in Navarre in 1974. It was just a small hotel with an outside pool but they had the clown visit etc. My kids would rather drive the extra miles just to go back because it seems like home after all these years. Always the same safe, non commercial place. We liked the convenience to the beach; looking for sea shells; later the inside pool; the game room; the gift shop. No need to even leave. Usually bought a new swim suit there because the selection was so good. onandon just great! Sure hope this Dennis spares them....maybe just die in the Gulf.
