One Star-if that.
By Valerie, 01/28/10
Our initial introduction to Sirata was a desk clerk who appeared wasn't very happy to be there. The parking was $8. per night. We were never asked: how was your stay; can we get you anything; any of the USUAL "we want you to be pleased with us" banter. Although we requested a quiet room we had a wedding above us on Saturday night. We got to listen to the bass all night. Thump, thump and thump. From 8PM to 11PM. Not very enjoyable. Our housekeeper was wonderful and when we requested an extra package of coffee it was supplied. We also put two chairs outside our STREET FRONT room to enjoy the fresh air, and they were never moved. Thank you for that. We will never go back. BUT..........St. Pete Beach is a must. As is DeSoto Park. Where we will camp next time.

Needed a vacation from this vacation
By StephanieB, 09/10/09
We made a reservation for a Gulf Front room and were incredibly disappointed when we discovered that their definition of Gulf Front is really Courtyard Front with a little view of the water. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. Instead of our balcony being over the sand it was over the courtyard where wedding pictures were taken and people hung out. We had a suite and when you walk into the room you are in the bedroom as opposed to the living room. It’s very strange and I didn’t think much more about it until we realized that you can hear EVERY noise coming through the door from the hallway. We did not sleep the entire trip – you could EVERYTHING like it was right in your room. There were also a lot of drunken young people all over the resort. We were particularly disgusted with the young college girls saying 2 and 3 doors down. Every night at 11pm they convened in the hall outside our room before they went out. Then, when they came home at 330 in the morning, we were again woken up by their drunk screams and partying. One afternoon around 4pm one girl was VERY drunk and was actually in the hallways topless with a man. Despite several complaints to the desk and security, the girls were never removed. There were children staying in our hallway and young girls were drunk and topless in front of them. The beach was gorgeous and I did like the pool area. There are so many places to stay in the area so I would definitely suggest bypassing the Sirata.

Horrible!!!
By Susan, 08/19/09
After a very long travel day, we arrived at 2:30am. Although my husband and I were both standing there, the man at the desk never acknowleged my husband's presence. When we finally got into the room, there was standing water all over the kitchen floor. The unit was dirty and had a bad odor. It looked nothing like the pictures. Even the outside corridors were dirty. We returned to the front desk and were told that there was no other room available. We told him that we were not staying in an expensive, wet, filthy room. We got our money back and left. We went down the street to another hotel and were taken care of like royalty.

Horrible service but great view of the beach
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/24/09
The view of the each from our room was the only great thing about this place. If you like to have good service this is not the place for you. I had a confirmation that stated check in was 3pm, when we arrived at 3pm and I handed my confirmation to the attendant (she was the concierge that came over to help the other attendant that day when we walked in) which she promptly returned to me without looking at it, asking me my name and stating that checkin was not until 4pm, that our room was not ready and that they would call us when it was. She went ahead and had us fill out the paper work to check in of which I asked questions about the charge for parking(they charge $8 a day for parking) which I was not aware of, to which she replied, smiling but not very pleasantly, that it was on there website, but there was no mention of the parking fees on my confirmation that I had or any emails that I received. At this point we walked over to the beach and hung out but by 4pm we had not received a call yet. When we went back to the counter we talked with I believe it was Penny, who was very pleasant and explained to her that we had already been by and that we where supposed to get a call when our room was ready, but had not yet and that we had been on the road for 2 days and that I was getting a little frustrated at this point. She said that our room still was not ready due to maintence issues but she moved us to another room and removed the parking fees for our visit due to the issues with checking in. Once we got into our room the view from our room was great and the beach was wonderful. The 1st day we where there we went to the beach came back to our room around noon for lunch to our room still in disarray. We went back to the beach after we ate lunch and came back around 4pm and there had still been no room service. We got read to go out to dinner and stopped by the front office, where I asked if this hotel even had room services to which I was told that they where short handed in room service that day but that they would have it taken care of. I told them that we would be gone for a few hours for dinner so there was not hurry but when we returned the only thing that was done was a pile of towels where left on the bed closest to the door. I was really displeased since the only thing that I had told that we really needed taken care of was the floors vacuumed since we had tracked in sand from the beach, but that had not even been done. Considering how much we spent to stay in the hotel I consider it a full lack of service that we did not have full room service during our full visit at your hotel. I did not realized how badly we where treated until we moved onto Orlando after our stay at Sirata and stayed at another resort(Liki Tiki Village resort) there where they let us check in early by several hours and everyone that we saw or talked to from the Liki Tiki resort was very nice and made sure that we knew that we could call “0” if we needed anything at all. Not once was I told this or even asked if everything was ok at the Sirata! After our visit I reported the issues to management at the hotel and was told that they would use my information for training and they also pointed out on the web site where the parking fees where located, which you haev to actually look for to find. As you could say this was not much of a resolution to our frustration with our visit to this place. If you do decide to visit I hope you have better luck then we did. Good luck.

Disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/02/09
I travel to the Gulf coast at least twice a year for vacation. I was very dissapointed in the Sirata. I paid for an oceanview room and when I checked in, none were available and I ended up facing a busy street over a very noisy bar! I don't think they have ever replaced their mattresses I could actually feel the springs through the mattress. I rarely complain about a hotel but I felt they really didn't care me as a customer. As far as the balance of the hotel, the restaurants were fine, the beach was great. They really do need to do some upkeep though. The cabana's had nails sticking out of them and were in need of TLC. I personally would not go back, more because of how I was treated at the front desk.

would go back, not with a debit card!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/07/09
great location, beach is awesome.Dislike when we checked in, had to give a credit card, I gave a debit card not realizing what nwould happen. They took $228.00 from my account. Their explantion was they did that figuring I would charge to the room, or the bar, or restarant. How they figured that is crazy!!Seems illegal to me. Did get the money back, but it was $228 less to spend! Do not give a debit card!

By Evelyn, 10/05/08
Our family like to spend our vacation in Orlando.,Fl we go there once or twice every year. Last year and this year we spend 3 nights in this hotel on our way home as our beach trip. We have no problems whatsoever..they have beautiful views right on the beach, the price is good.. We will make this hotel as our regular place to stay everytime we're in Tampa area.

Great Anniversary Getaway!!!
By Jason, 08/05/08
My wife and I chose the Sirata to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. We really just wanted an inexpensive place on the beach. We were extremely pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the Sirata. Upon arrival (at 11am) our room was ready and the staff were extremely helpful in getting us settled (we even got a call from guest services to make sure that everything was as we wanted it!). We booked a king suite w/ partial ocean view, but as far as we were concerned it was a full ocean view (it looked directly down to the pool area but we had a perfectly clear view of the ocean just beyond). Our room was extremely clean and we really liked how the Sirata was a "green" resort and focuses on saving energy and recycling. The staff working at the restaurants and beach bars were so friendly and made great food recommendations. The restaurants and beach bars were reasonably priced (my wife and I spent around $30 a meal average, including drinks). The location is just absolutely amazing! Literally right on St. Pete's beach and also within walking distance to other resorts, restaurants, shops, etc. One tip for those travelers who would like to save a little money. There is a grocery store called "Public's" within walking distance of the Sirata. If you are staying in a room with a kitchenette, you could easily purchase some groceries from Public's and make your own lunches. That way you really never have to leave the beach!!!! The value was amazing, we got so much for what we paid. We will certainly go back! Highly recommended!!!!!

Pretty good, overall. I'd go back.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/23/08
Positives: The beach is very nice, the staff at check in and elsewhere were quite helpful, the price was about reasonable. The cleaning crew did a good job every day (but the place is a challenge, see below.) Food at the restaurant and grill was only fair, but decent restaurants are nearby (and very good ones downtown.) Given late-spring, we expected a bit of noise, but the place was very quiet at night. Downsides: The room was musty with some typical kind of resort-like mildew killer; coming in from the fresh air was a shock. The furniture and finish were a bit worn, and the mattress was beat up pretty bad. But it was livable. Almost everything -- parking, coffee, use of computers, toys and chairs on the beach -- had a price tag, which was a bit annoying. Bottom line -- not great, but good for the price and our need. We spent most of our time on day trips in the area, so were not at the hotel much. If I wanted to come back to stay on the beach, I would probably price other places. But I would not hesitate to return if the price were right.

Had a wonderful time
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/11/08
We were at the Sirata for 5 nights from March 27th through April 1st. We had such a great time. The weather was beautiful and the beach was unbelievable. The sunsets were so breathtaking. The rooms were really clean and our view was great. The staff was very helpful and courteous. I have nothing negative to say only great things. We are definately going to return to the Sirata if we are in St. Petersburg again. Linda in the lounge/bar was the nicest person and what a great personality.
