Duval House, Key West

All in all It's a great hotel but if any of you are looking to save some $$ then book it at SweetHotelDeals. N e t They usually have some pretty good deals on there.

I use to come here and enjoy the pool and the grounds about 8 years ago. This place is not the same. The pool has been moved, horrible looking murals painted on exterior walls by the pool. The place lacks the old charm it had. Also, we wanted to move to a differenent room due to the fact the air conditioner was not working and we got a horrible purple room that looked like even tackier than the murals outside. A very expensive disappointment. Once they get there money you will not get it back. They do not take American Express. Beware.

What a shame, used to be our favorite vacation spot but since management has been changed this is going donwhill from here. Current GM has the attitute of an dead animal, sorry to say so but just watch her, him...Rooms are dirty, gardens in very bad shape, breakfast was not available. What a shame, I can just say STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE...

We have been to the Keys before but always stayed outside the keys in hotels, but this time since we had visitors from Pennsylvania with us we decided to stay on Duval St, park the car and never to get back in it until it was time to leave. We stopped at a visitors center and they recommended Duval House. We stayed in a two bedroom suite one bath and had a nice living area downstairs. It was just FABULOUS! Who ever said "pictures say it all, well, the pictures were beautiful but when you see the house in person the pool area and garden area, you wouldn't even know you were on Duval St. The back of Duval House is definitely a Tropical Paradise. Our guests were impressed. They are already planning their next trip. The Champaign breakfast was included. Nice, mimosa's, cereal, hard boil eggs, muffins, donuts, assorted fruits, tea, coffee. Did I tell you how Wonderful.? I did didn't I. Next time you are in the Keys check the Duval House out. They even show you around first to make sure this is the place for you. ENJOY, we sure did.....Thank you, Duval House.

I stayed there in mid September 2009. It is within easy walking distance of Mallory square, several fine restaurants, many shops, a laundrymat, and a nice roadside tropical drink vendor across the street. I enjoyed lying on a lounge in their luxurious tropical garden while sipping tropical smoothies, and taking a dip in their pool. The staff was wonderful. They were very knowledgeable about the area and very willing to help. I would only suggest that they invest $15 per room for a small coffee maker. I'd stay there again.

it is well located on the main st. Duval, charming old Victorian, w/ 2 pools, parking, spacious room, good breakfast in a nicely landscaped backyard and pool area.

I just got back from a family vacation with 14 members of my family. The Duval House was GREAT. We were all in several different rooms. All were clean, and in good shape. However, some of the rooms were very small. Just ask when booking your rooms. Let them know you do not want a small room, if you don’t mind then no problems. The breakfast was great. Fresh fruit, bagels, cereal, you could even make mimosas!! We were there when they had two pools. I believe after this season, there will only be one, but you should still enjoy your time at this Inn. The best part was the back of the inn. It took you away from the noise, and at times“tackiness” of parts of Duval Street. It made you feel that you were in a topical island!! It fit all our needs!!! Good place to say with good rates. There are rooms for all types and all had private places to sit outside. Rooms that faced Duval had great deck views of the street, and rooms set back were more private and quiet. It fit all our needs!!! We had some people with us on a budget and others that always travel in style and everyone was happy!! I was sad to leave.

Comfortable, clean, courteous, quiet, convenient, affordable, attentive etc... There aren't enough positive adjectives for me to use in praising the Duval House and its staff. It's my favorite place to visit!

Duval House is set in a beautiful garden, which made this stay wonderful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The hotel is perfectly situated right in the middle of Duval Street but it's a little bit away from all the noise, so you don't get bothered at night. Eating breakfast out in the gardens is a wonderful start to the day. The only complaint is that it would have been nice if the person who was helping with the breakfast had chatted a bit. If they would have had a customer service oriented person in this position, it would have made all the difference. The whole staff didn't really seem to care if we had a good experience at their hotel. We are very social people and that bit of interested social contact from the staff would have guaranteed that we would return for a visit. As it is, we would recommend this hotel for it's location and it's beautiful gardens but when we go back to Key West, we would probably try out another hotel.
