The Historic Clewiston Inn, Clewiston

We stayed for two nights. A lot of charm and history, but that is where the good ends. First, upon check in, the girl at the front desk was confused and appeared to be on drugs. TV in room was very small and dated. Not very many channels, but room was clean. The restaurant staff, (one waitress) had the personality of a mushroom. I asked her if she had seen any of the ghosts that they claim to be at the inn. Her knee-jerk response was "No". but, then she quickly said, "Oh yeah, I seen one last week". I think they fabricated the paranormal activity at the inn to drum up business. Also, the food at the breakfast bar was lousey. I would stay there again, only if I plan to eat in town and not spend much time at the inn.

cons- restaurant had horrible service @ dinner time. we waited and never got served so when the waitress walked by we asked if we could get someone over to our table to take our order and she was very rude so we left. our shower head and knobs were a nasty black color. I dont know if that was because of age or dirt, either way it looked nasty you could tell it was not the original color that it was dirty. no fitness center as stated, clerk told me many of the machines were broken so the had closed it but there is a gym down the street. pros- hotel staff was nice. cute park across the parking lot. breakfast @ the hotel restaurant was much better than dinner, great service and great food.everything else went very smooth. Just to let you know our room was not the same as what we saw online. our room had a sink outside of the bathroom next to the window in the bedroom. im going to try and upload some pics of that because it was different and kinda cool. overall it was still a nice little weekend getaway

I loved the food, service and the comfort of the luxurious bed in the newly renovated suite. we had such a great time that I cant wait to go back.

The Clewiston Inn is a beautiful historic hotel with so much history to be told. It is like an oasis in the everglades. I had never been to the Inn but had heard about it from my grandparents. I can't say enough about my stay there. My room was very nice and comfy, the free full breakfast was very tasty and my grouper I had for dinner was delicous. The staff was incredible, very gracious and helpful. Southern hospitality at it's best, a must see showcase from an era gone by, beautifully preserved.

This Inn is beautiful when one walks up to the front door and enters the tastefully decorated lobby. I did not stay as a guest there but did come for breakfast. The service was as poor as anything I have ever had anywhere. There were very few customers in the dining room when I arrived. I was not told that there was a buffet as one of the choices for breakfast; I waited 15 minutes after being seated before a waitress offered coffee; my order was committed to memory and two mistakes with it were made when my food was brought; though there were only a few people in the restaurant, I waited a full half an hour before my food was brought. I observed a party of 6 get up and leave after they had waited an hour and a half and their order was never brought. As I observed them, none of the wait staff seemed trained or to care. It certainly makes the point for not judging a book by its cover.
