Staff stole two pieces of jewlery
By Courtney P, 8/3/11
Very disappointed with this 'resort' and i use that term lightly. Housekeeping stole two pieces of jewlery and of course Omni has exhausted all means on there end. From someone who doesn't travel much, lesson learned. Don't assumme since you are staying at a 'resort', that the staff wouldn't be criminals. Don't keep anything of value in your room if you are not in it. Management did nothing.

Relaxing and great meeting location!
By Shirley, 6/18/11
I enjoyed relaxing in the room and on the beach while my husband was involved in meetings for three days. Breakfasts and lunches were above average. The dinner buffets were great and ranged from seafood, grilled burgers, hot dogs and steaks with a variety of salads, vegetables and desserts. The spinach salad at the Beach Grille was excellent. The resort is sprawling and out of the way. Be sure you note where you should travel or you may get lost in the area. Great experience and would love to visit again.

wanted to like it
By Tad, 2/1/10
Being a tennis player from the midwest, I had heard about this property since I was a kid. Went for a visit to enjoy some tennis and beach. While the tennis facilities were great and the tennis desk set me up with matchplay, which was great, the hotel itself was just lacking the amenities and service to truly call it a 4 star hotel. Not a great choice of restaurants, and the food served there was not impressive by any means. You could just tell it was a place past its prime. I'd come back for a tennis trip, but I would certainly take the time to explore the surrounding area. When I'm at places like Boca Raton, I dont need to leave the resort.

Rip Off Hotel!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/30/09
We’re home from Amelia Island Plantation 2 days early. The inn was not worth the $200 a night fee. ....Dirty sheets on the bed!!!!! .....Broken shower. Totally expensive (rip off) resort, and over the hill hotel. Last night, there was a lady who coughed all night in the next room and woke my husband up constantly. That was the LAST straw for us! We were gone by 9 AM and drove home. Bell hops were good and waitstaff in the restaurant were good. I think this is the worst time we have had in all of our experiences all over the world!

Very Disappointing!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/5/08
My family and I recently stayed one night in an oceanfront room. The staff was friendly overall and the accomodations were nice just dated. You can tell that they have tried to update the interior but it is still not quite what I expected. We spent over six hundred dollars for less than twenty four hours at this resort, for two adults and two small children. This included one lunch for myself and the two small children, dinner for all four, and breakfast for all four (and the 20% gratuity that is automatically added to your check). My husband and I drove separately and one car was valeted while the other we parked in the adjacent parking lot at the hotel. As we checked out the following day we realized that someone had stolen the reese hitch off of the back of the vehicle. I called the hotel the following day to bring this to their attention and I left a message with the front desk manager, they still have not returned my call. That was three days ago. This morning when I checked my bank account I noticed that they were also trying to charge me for two nights. I am sure they will correct this. Not what I would expect from a four diamond hotel.

Never again! Don't go unless you're fasting.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/27/08
What a disappointment! This was a place I have driven by for years and always said someday I want to go there. For such a high priced "resort", one expects good service. The food and bar service was really awful. Our family party never had a pleasant dining experience during our 2 day stay - the main dining room at the Amelia Inn was CLOSED on Sunday (how inconsiderate is that on a major holiday weekend?), not even a coffee shop could be found, the only other recommended "really nice" place on the premises refused to even try to serve us without a 3-hr wait, and the other 2 places we tried served the food cold or not prepared as ordered on every occasion...and I'm talking even the simple things like the little children having to wait up to 45 minutes to eat, then being served cold pizza or cold grilled cheese sandwiches. The already added 20% "service" fee is a rip-off. If they were not being guaranteed a tip, maybe then it would be earned by providing decent food and real service.

Beautiful grounds, needs facelift
By Kat, 3/5/08
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The grounds are beautiful and our hotel overooked the ocean. We walked on the beach, played golf, tennis, shopped and ate at their wonderful restaurant. The only complaint I have is that they include 20% gratuity on everything, and I didn't always that great of service. The hotel needs a facelift. It is back to the 1970's and looks it. The hotel rooms were a little small. Other than that, we did have a great time, and the beautiful scenery around makes up for the somewhat smaller rooms.

Great staff and nice touches in the rooms
By Giri C, 10/31/07
Very friendly and attentive staff. Every greets you with a smile. Overall the rooms are just a bit above average, but they have some nice touches. My room had a flat screen TV and an iHome alarm clock that I could use to dock my iPod. The ocean views are really nice (only about 100 yards from the beach.)

We really DISLIKED The Amelia Island Plantation
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/8/07
We found the resort, service, food amenities and the spa over priced and below average. My husband and I expected SO much more from a 5 star resort. We would NOT go back to The Amelia Island Plantation...
