Do not stay at this Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/2/11
This hotel is absolutely terrible. Don't stay here. It is over priced, and if you do stay here be very careful they cannot be trusted.

Great Choice!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/30/10
I just spent a week at the Marriott Wardman park. No complaints. Location was very convenient. Service was excellent and they were very accommodating to our groups particular needs. Very large hotel, but never had any trouble getting around. Clean, beautiful rooms. I would go back again next time I'm in DC. Parkiung is pricey, but no different than I've seen in other large citues. Paying for internet in room is a pain, but free wifi in lobby takes care of it. Lots of tables, chairs and outlets in lobby made it easy. Didn't have much time for web browsing.

Location, Frustration
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/18/09
Great location near the zoo, metro, and the great Rock Creek running trail. Place is way too big, and incredibly confusing...so confusing that during conferences they have to station loads of workers in the halls to direct you to your destination within the hotel. So big that someone got lost in there in 1999 and still is wandering around the place. Bathrooms are tiny, while the rest of the room is overly large...so that half the room is unusable (not enough furniture). Weird selection on the television, which is probably a Marriott thing. Like others, I was disappointed in the front desk service (had to ask three times in one day for them to fax me my bill). Surely there are better hotels in DC, but darned if every conference I attend there isn't located in the Wardman Marriott. Do yourself a favor and stay across the street in the Omni Shoreham.

Overpriced and Poorly Managed
By RitaH, 6/25/09
We had no safe in our room and were told there were safe deposits boxes at the front desk. The boxes turned out to be not big enough for our cameras and security had a major problem accommodating us, behaving like it was the first time this request had ever been made although they said they could keep laptops and other like items. The concierge was poorly informed about DC tours and gave directions to the Metro that required walking 3 blocks when it was actually 50 feet outside our rooms. Bar drinks were awful unless you like colored water. Maid service just put used shampoo and conditioner bottles back instead of replacing them. The rooms are definitely overpriced when compared to the 4 star hotel across the street and the internet charges are ridiculous. The hotel internet did not work to print out boarding passes and the concierge made no attempt to remedy this. The only good things were a beautiful lobby and decent breakfast buffet. I would not recommend this hotel.

Overpriced, poor service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/19/08
The hotel is pretty overpriced. The room is small. No free internet or drinking water. The worst is the Front Desk who was not helpful at all when I asked for an email receipt ("Please do not call again because I can not do anything for you"). Location is pretty good given that it is close to the Subway station. Outdoor space is beautiful.

The worst stay I have ver experienced!
By Kimberly, 1/9/08
Right from the start, our visit was terrible. We had asked for a king size bed and a refrigerator but instead we received two double beds and no refrigerator.I had to call the front desk 3 times before a refrigerator was finally brought to my room the day after we checked in.The room itself is very small and cramped. The bathroom is extremely small and impossible to move about in without hitting something. You cannot get to the shower/tub without shutting the bathroom door and the toilet is right against the front of the tub.The television in the room just takes up needed space because it only picks up a handful of channels. The internet connection throughout the hotel is not free. Our worst experience came from the hotel restaurant, A Stone's Throw, where we were suppose to have free breakfast each morning. When we checked in, the front desk employee gave us two vouchers and explained to us that they would be used for our free breakfast each morning. The vouchers had an expiration date on them for the day that we checked out. There was not any communication between the hotel and the restaurant because we were harassed each morning about the vouchers. On our third morning, we were sitting in the restaurant eating our breakfast when the server that assisted us the first morning of our visit approached our table and rudely said that we had walked out without paying on Sunday morning. We explained to her and our current server what we had been told concerning the vouchers and they both walked off without a word.No one ever came back to our table to offer an apology or explanation before we left the restaurant, embarrassed and very mad.We went straight to the front desk and asked for the manager, who was not very friendly and didn't seem very concerned with our issue. He did offer a weak apology. We told him that it should not have been our place to run back and forth between the restaurant and front desk trying to resolve the issue. His only response was that there were lots of new employees in the restaurant and front desk that were not familiar with the proper procedure of the vouchers. We would never stay at this hotel again! The staff was obviously not concerned with providing an enjoyable stay for their guests. The concierge did not come in each morning until 10:00 am.The first morning that we stayed, our room did not receive maid service. We left early that morning for business and returned around 6:00 PM to find that our room had not been touched. We called the front desk and all they did was offer to send up some fresh towels that took over two hours to arrive

Beautiful experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/25/07
Yes, there was construction, but the hotel was extremely clean and very nice. The Gray Line bus tour picked us up right at the hotel - it's convenient to a subway station and right next to the National Zoo. Staff was SUPER accommodating and responsive. Stone's Throw restaurant was DELICIOUS food, fun experience. Everyone we came across, even the construction workers, were polite and helpful. We left practically at dawn and were assisted cheerfully. Holiday decorations were festive and pretty. Lovely lovely stay.

A construction zone
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/30/07
Construction begins at 7:24 am. If you are an early riser, this hotel would be fine, but if not, do not expect to get a good night's sleep. Don't expect the staff to care--they act as if this is part of the hotel experience. I suppose it is as this dive.
