Service and attitude a problem
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/06/08
We have traveled a great deal and always try to stay in 5 star hotels. We have relatives in Greenwich and decided to try the Delamar as it looked lovely on the website. It is a lovely hotel, the rooms are very nice but the one issue that we had during our stay was the lack of interest from the staff. They have very non caring attitude and when asking a question or making a request they seem to not want to be bothered. I don't really understand this as this is just a hotel in Greenwich and not NY, or Paris. As I mentioned, we are very well traveled and are used to a certain type of hotel and service and if there happened to be a nicer hotel in Greenwich we would definitely not stay at the Delamar. But it happens to be the best one in the area but the staff needs to be better trained and more congenial and helpful.

Not a Home Run
By Donna R, 08/03/06
Rooms are beautifully appointed, view is lovely. BUT they did not hold to their offerings. No complimentary glass of champagne on check in, no boat cruise on 2 tries, no turn down service,no do not disturb door hanger(they informed us the next day that a button on the door does it, maybe they could have told us that on check in). There was marginal air conditioning (granted it was exceptionally hot, the elevator stuck and would not open. Our pushing the emergency button produced no one. We kept pushing the open button until minutes later right before panic set in, the door opened. The espresso/cappucino machine was not working for breakfast. The bed side light could not be turned off as the switch was bad. We had to turn the bulb to turn off the light. No pens are provided only pencils. We would not be sending this but upon letting management know what happened and us following up with a call the next day we were given excuse upon excuse. Not exactly serving the customer. We did not want a refund or any monetary relief. We just thought they would want to know so they could improve upon it.

Great bedding but disliked service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/10/05
Hey the Hotel is good. It's in great location, has great restaurant (with delicious food), awesome beds but... when I walked in trying to get a room and mentioned that I am on the honeymoon they barely even acknowledged the fact. I expected them to say Congratulations at the least considering that I've dumped more than $400 for our one night stay there. Then, I had to call twice with interval of couple hours to have them bring us another bathrobe (the bath robe was really great by the way) but having to call more than once isn't what I call service!! The doorman was great though and you immediately want to tip someone so friendly but if you're going to hotel and all you have to say about it is how good the doorman was I'd think twice before going there if I were you. Other than that, very pricy but great location and nice design.

One of the best
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/19/05
I have done a fair amountof traveling and I consider this one of the best hotels I have ever had the pleasure of staying at. (There are two or three others which rank up there) It is right on the water and the grounds are beautiful. It is an easy walk to Greenwich Ave., with all the fabulous shopping. The staff is very pleasant and extremely helpful. The rooms might be a trifle small but the appointments are the best. I cannot recommend this hotel enthusiastically enough. Last, and perhaps most important, the hotel is dog friendly.

Had the MOST wonderful time
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/02/05
My daughter and I wanted to get out of NYC as we had been working very hard. We decided the drive to Greenwich was so easy we would try The Delamar. Lucky for us.. It was fabulous. Every detail was looked after by the attentive staff. The hotel itself is beautiful as are the rooms as well. We had a view of the water and we saw the most magnificent yachts. The hotel has so much personality such as a wine and cheese reception for guests and a ride on an antique boat looking at the beautiful historic homes on the water. The best was the sleep. The bed and sheets were so comfortable that I who always wakes up at 6am slept till after 830. I cannot WAIT to go back to the gem of a hotel.

LOVELY ROOMS, MARBLE TILED BATHS, GOOSEDOWN DUVETS, THICK TERRY ROBES, FABULOUS TOILETRIES, WELL STOCKED PREMIUM LIQUOR IN THE MINIBAR AS WELL AS JUICE, TEA, WATER AND SODA. STAFF VERY FRIENDLY. ONLY DISLIKE..HAVING TO CALL THE DESK AND BOTHER SOMEONE TO BRING A FULL ICE BUCKET WHICH THEY EXCHANGE FOR THE EMPTY. HAVE BEEN HERE TWICE FOR ONE WEEK EACH TIME. GOING BACK THIS MONTH. ALSO CONNECTED TO A GOOD FRENCH RESTERAUNT.
