Almost Heaven

There is no way my review can do Wind River justice. Our family (25 of us) gathered at Wind River in June of 2004 and were treated to the retreat of a lifetime. If there's a more beautiful place in North America than this haven of peace, rest and revelation 7 miles north of Estes Park, I don't know where it is. Wind River overwhelmed me before I even made it to my cabin.
The people who are responsible for making your stay enjoyable are absolutely amazing. I've never met people more genuinely invested in making sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves, and many of them are unpaid VOLUNTEERS!
The food was incredible, the accomodations were clean and well kept and there was more to do than we had time for. Hiking, riding, bonfires, barbecues and cook outs, watching the elk, hanging out in a hammock looking up at Estes Cone, square dancing, swimming, hot tubbing, playing basketball, climbing the climbing wall, sitting in a swing or cedar rocker reading a book, hanging out in the coffee house or rec hall and getting to know other "retreaters", shopping in Estes Park, golf and whitewater rafting outings... Those are just the highlights - there was so much more!
As you know or will find out, taking your family to Wind River is a significant investment in money and time. But if you're like most families, it will be one of the best investments in family you have ever made. We were unbelievably blessed to have our trip paid for in 2004. That's not happening in 2005, but we are already booked for next June.
Get there if you can. It will change your life.
