Catering
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/08/07
In March of 2007 I talked with Adrienne about hosting a rehearsal dinner in July. She assured me they could arrange a simple hot dog and hamburger meal. I paid a $1000 deposit. In June I still hadn't gotten any menus to choose from. Adrienne informed me she had no caterer, but she would supply the room, a bartender and four wait staff along with tables chairs, plates and silver. I had to find my own caterer at the last minute. On the night of the party she had only two wait persons and this was absolutely insufficient for 150 people. I asked her to adjust the bill, but she would not. Then she charged my credit card without my permission. Completely unsatisfactory experience. Two servers we did have (Cindy & Andrew) were very hard workers but couldn't keep up.

Great Place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/10/06
The hotel is great. The rooms are good better than you would expect from a place that is 50 years old. Most of the rooms are a good size there are a few small ones. The staff is also very friendly. In the morning you can enjoy breakfast in the lobby and you might end up sitting down having coffee with the owners. If you are there around thanksgivinng you might get lucky enough to fun into one of the many grandchildren of Marian and Ralph. This just adds to the comporting homey feeling. The location is also great. It is just a short walk to most places and is right across the street from the park. Also it is right by the bus station where you can take a bus to anywhere in Aspen or the near by towns. Most of the busses are even free. I love this hotel and keep comming back year after year.

WOW!! Thank you Marian and Ralph
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/17/06
The Mountain Chalet is the best places I have ever stayed in my life. This was my first time in at this motel but I will be back every chance I get. The owners are one reason this place is so awesome! Then it is run buy their children. So this is truly a family ran place. Every one you met here seems to be a friend of the owners and comes back year after year. You too can take the time to meet the owners and you will leave feeling like you are a friend of the family. Sit down and have breakfast with the owner and you will soon find yourself friends with them also. The type of people they are would make it impossible not to end up friends with them. I don't believe I found one person working they that was not smiling and you could tell the smiles on they faces were real. The breakfast was free and is not only a cold meal but hot food as well every morning. The service was the best I have ever had anywhere. You will never find a better deal or have a better time anywhere else in Aspen or anywhere else. If you want to stay here make your plans way in advance to get in. Most people make their return plans when they leave for the following year. This really is a place where every one-I met comes back year after year and some have been coming back for 30 to 50 years. I only wish there where more people and places left like this. Marian and Ralph Melville are true friends. The world could learn a lot from them and the love they have for everyone. This shows in every thing they do including in The Mountain Chalet. If you can get a room at the Mountain Chalet it is a must. Thank you Marian and Ralph Your friend Jeff and family

weekend getaway
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/14/05
My boyfriend's father has come to this hotel for many years and he mentioned we should stay at this hotel. The weekend we were there it was booked for a Firemen's convention and so his father made a phone call. We enjoyed our room, we had access to everything the room was cozy and comfortable. I can't wait to see Aspen during the Winter months. I'm not a skier but there is so much to do. Thank you!

Mountain Chalet Is The Best Value In Aspen
By Gretchen, 07/19/05
What a great, reasonably-priced hotel, just blocks away from the best of downtown Aspen, or the base of Aspen Mountain for wintertime skiing! It’s an older facility (50 year anniversary last year) but our room, although small, was clean and modern. Our room was equipped with a queen-sized bed, small refrigerator, TV and a balcony that overlooked the pool area. The price of the room included breakfast, one of the best “cold” breakfasts I’ve had at a hotel. The staff was friendly and the hotel facilities were astounding; I could not believe how well equipped the fitness area was with brand new equipment. There is also a laundry room, large dining room and other cozy seating areas near the lobby. Coffee and fresh baked goods were offered each afternoon. I checked out a lot of other hotels, large and small, within Aspen and Mountain Chalet’s prices beat everything else. You will not find a better deal, nor a better location, in Aspen.

great time at a great price
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/01/05
We loved this hotel because of proximity to lifts, food and shopping. It has great service and wonderful staff. Breakfast in AM was a nice treat. We loved the radiant floors in the bathrooms. Rooms are just right for an older hotel. Love the pool and hot tub.

Timeless Aspen charm
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/24/04
The mountain chalet was a wonderful and cozy place to stay and was so close to everything. The family owned atmosphere is a wonderful change from the pompous atmosphere in the surrounding hotels....The rooms are clean nice and after a long day on the slopes the spa and steam room are divine.
