Rose Garden Inn Santa Maria, Santa Maria

We had picked this hotel for the low price and low pet fee. Room was decent. It was raining that evening so all night we had to listen the rain dripping on the gutter pipe, which sounded like a coffee pot brewing coffee. The shower had no hot water, we ran the water for over 20 minutes with no change in temperature even after turning the shower handle all the way in each direction thinking it might possibly reversed where cold is hot and hot is cold, still no hot water. We called the front desk about it and the lady at the desk said she was sending someone out, over an hour later we called again, this time she told us to try the reverse method and that it would work, it didnt since we had already tried that, about 30 minutes later the lady called our room and said she checked the room next to ours for hot water and it had hot water and that we were doing something wrong (its not rocket science to figure out how to use a shower.) She came to our room only to turn the faucet on in the sink and point out the hot water coming from the sink, we told her we dont take showers in the sink after the second time she pointed out the hot water in sink. She continued to argue with us about it, we then asked if we could move to a different room and were denied, I couldnt believe how we were treated, she was asked to leave our room. I myself work at a hotel and from have stayed at many hotels over the years and from my experience the guest is top priority and if they are not happy with something, we do whats necessary to make their stay a pleasurable one, that includes switching them to a different room as they requested. I will not be recommending or referring anyone to stay here.

I wouldn't recommend this hotel to friends, and would only recommend it to an enemy who had done something particularly nasty to me very recently. The ceiling had water stains, the carpeting was sticky, and one of the two chairs in the room looked like someone had [well, let's not go there] all over it. The front yard featured an impressive assortment of cigarette butts, and I tried to get my wife to play a game I invented called "Count the Butts in the 12 Feet Between the Car and the Room" but she lost interest after we hit 20. Some of the other reviews of this hotel that I read before reserving my room mentioned the "recent remodel", but since the remodel hasn't happened yet, I have to suspect that those "customers" were either time travelers who stayed there in the future or were the owners of the hotel trying to pump up business. Trust me, I'm someone who likes a good deal as much as the next person. This was not a good deal; it was just inexpensive. There's a big difference.

We decided to spend the night at the last minute, after helping my sister move. This was one of 2 motel rooms we were able to find and choose it for it's location. We were traveling with my 2 year old son and had my 1 year old niece, who had both just fallen asleep. We checked in and quickly placed them into the bed. After lying down with my niece for a few minutes I noticed a small bug on the pillow. I brushed it off and lifted the pillow up and noticed approx. 5 other small bugs under the pillow. After removing my niece from the bed we lifted the other pillow and it had about 10 bugs under it. We immediatley called the front desk and demanded someone come look. ( I wanted them to see for themselves.) We waited 10 minutes and on one EVER showed up. So we loaded the kids up and I went and found a maid. She and another employee came in and lifted the sheet up and found about 50 bugs on the sheet. They kept talking back and forth about how disgusting it was! It appeared that the matress was infested. Im not pest control or anything but have seen some bugs in my day.. and Im about 95 percent sure they were baby cockroaches. It was the most disgusting expierence of my life. The employee at the front desk was very apolegetic and tried giving me a different room. I, of course declined. They were happy to refund me all my money. I sure hope they took care of the filth and didn't just re-rent the room. Dont stay here. Im sure we didnt get the only infested room.

The rooms are overpriced for what you get. The place is falling apart. The rooms were dirty, dirty showers, the lamp shade was dirty and falling apart. The windows would not close tight, the tv did not work, no smoke detector in room. The swimming pool is not heated like they advertise, and NO hot tub like they advertise, we were told it has been out of service for one year. It is right off Main Street, so if you are looking for quite nights, do not stay here. It was not worth the price, and we would not recommend it to others.

It's a good place to stay. Not great and not outstanding. I've stayed in many different hotels. I like staying here because it's inexpesive compared to other places and it's fairly quiet. There are a lot of other places that cost more and are worse.

WE'RE USING THE HOTEL TO STAY IN AFTER WORK. SO WE'RE THERE FROM MONDAY NIGHT TILL THURSDAY NIGHT. IN ALL REALITY ITS NOT A BAD PLACE TO STAY. REASONABLE RATES DECENT ROOMS. THEN THEY FEED YOU DINNER AROUND 5 TO 6. YEAH YOU CAN FIND YOURSELF A HILTON OR A MARRIOT. BUT COME ON. THE PLACE HAS ACTUALLY GOTTEN BETTER. JUST DONT KNOCK IT TILL YOUVE STAYED RECENTLY.

I expected something more than a glorified motel, but that is all this is. I thought the room rate was high for what we got. But their roses were beautiful and plentiful.

Um where do i begin? when we got there it stunk really bad! the beds were smaller than we asked for. The comforters had holes in them. The tv didnt work. The pictures on this site looked NOTHING like the actual room. My friend and her parents had to leave their room cuz the toilet in the next room was overflowing to their room. There were bugs in the shower. So needless to say we WON'T be coming back to the stinky rose garden!

We arrived very late in the evening, so the room was kind of scary for us. The room was on second floor and it was more like motel style. There was no security guard in the area. Bathroom walls were peel off and towels had black stains. The only good thing about this hotel was there were a lot of TV chanels

This place smelled like mildew. It had roaches and overall was disgusting. The restroom was dirty from the dirty towels on the rack to the unmoped floor.
