8 reviews for Orange Tree Inn, Santa Barbara
Not too bad, good value
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/04/08
Basic, clean and some staff members are very pleasant. Most of the other reviews are not like what we experienced the 8 or 9 times we've stayed here over the past year. we stay a night to go hang at the beach and enjoy State St. in the pm, so this hotel's perfect for us. And considering any of the Santa Barbara hotels closer to the beach or on State St. are $200+ past Memorial Day this hotel is not half bad for the price.

Horrible Horrible Place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/01/07
Me and my friends went there this past weekend, and the service was horrible, we received noise complaints about us at 4 in the morning although everyone in the room was already asleep. We were charged an extra $75 in "damages" and did not find out about these until a week later when we were back home. The hotel clerks were rude and would not explain what damages had occurred, although I personally thought that it was common for the hotel to write down what damages had occurred. The desk clerks also hung up on my friends and I 4 times when we tried to call to find out what the charges were for.

Don't Torture Yourself
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/06/06
We didn't know places like this existed. This place has people living there full time and partying at all hours of the night. Someone tried to jump through our bathroom window, climbed on the roof above us and had a fist fight with their roomate outside our room at 2am. The staff was unavailable during the night and were totally rude and unfriendly. The room was absolutely gross and reminded us of a hostel. Spend the extra money and stay somewhere else... it will be worth it!

WARNING DO NOT STAY HERE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/09/06
I booked this hotel via the Internet and I had looked at the reviews (its probably the INN writing their own reviews). I thought for one night how bad can it be. It can be BAD trust me. The place was dirty, the staff were not friendly. Over-priced for what we got. I don't think the sheets had been washed. The sink was not working. They told us that there would be breakfast at 7 am we waited until 8am giving us all kinds of excuses, in other words there was no breakfast. I was in the state of California/Nevada with my husband and 2 children for 16 nights and I had booked all the hotels that we stayed at via Internet. All hotels from San Francisco to Las Vegas were perfect except for this one. I should have stayed at Motel 6 or slept in a park . Trust me do not stay there.

Don't stay here
By Catherine, 02/20/06
If you're looking for "a night at the freshman college dorm" experience, then this is the place for you. If you're looking for a budget hotel where you can actually sleep through the night without being awakened by out of control party-ers who seem to have complete run of the place, then you should avoid this hotel like the plague.

Great Value
By Nathan, 09/20/05
We checked into the Hotel just after all the schools returned 09/09/05. The room was spacious clean and well positioned for all the attractions of State Street. Value for money is the key!! If your visiting Santa Barbara to stay in your room all day then you don't deserve to travel anywhere. Staff were very pleasent and only too helpful during our stay. We would use this hotel again anytime!!!

Customer service was aweful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/23/05
The room was not a huge nightmare that the other reviews made it out to be. When they come in to clean it its not so bad, if you can keep it clean. The front desk people are just flat out dumb and VERY useless. I thought the room smelled awful, we had to get air freshers and candles but I have stayed at super high end hotels and personally thought it was a good price compared to $200+ a night hotel rooms that are just slightly better then the orange tree. For a weekend in SB you need to save where ever you can, so unless you plan to spend a lot of time there it was not truly that bad in comparison to the average hotel in SB.

Don't stay here!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/01/05
The pillows are the worst pillows I've ever slept on! It was so loud I could not sleep. People were up until 5 a.m. slamming doors and partying. You can hear everything while in your room. Not worth the savings!
