do not stay here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/08/10
we have used this hotel on a somewhat frequent basis for our business related guests over the past three years. it has gotten worse and worse, and our last experience with the incredibly incompenent and uncommunicative staff means we will never use it again. they were inhospitable, rude and turned our guest away because they couldn't find the reservation paperwork that i filled out in person that same day. i'm usually tolerant in these situations because i understand the challenges of running a small business, but this hotel is not worth your time or money. avoid at all costs.

Horrible, Horrible Experience & Staff!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/21/09
Unless you like being treated like dirt, don't stay here. The disrespect I was shown by being called a liar and being repeatedly lied to myself was severely rude and blatantly mean. I had a medical emergency that delayed my plane flight. I called to rearrange my hotel dates, was put on hold for 15 minutes while the staff yelled at a woman customer in the lobby (I could hear everything) until the poor woman was crying. Then he left her crying in the background while he went on to helping another customer while I remained on the line. So, I hung up and called back later. The staff assured me that due to the situation it would be no problem to change the date as long as I intended to still stay @ their hotel and to call back after seeing the doctor on Mon.. So, I immediately called the hotel on Mon. to inform them of the proposed dates of arrival. I was told by the staff on Mon.that it was impossible, that they were charging my card for 1 night's stay. When I explained about the conversation with the staff on Fri.,he told me that I was lying, that I had never called on Fri. & that he was the only staff there. I was given the general manager's name after calling the headquarters so I called back the next day & actually got the same staff I spoke with on Fri. (the staff that supposedly didn't exist). He said that I was already charged for the night & that he had said no such thing.I tried to explain again but couldn't get in 2 words edgewise besides to tell me to call the general manager the next day. So,I just got off the phone with the manager, Roger Patel, the quickest conversation ever. He said there was a note in front of him, telling him that if I called to make sure I was charged for one night's stay.I tried to explain the situation, but again, no 2 words in edgewise.I said that actually I would be staying at their hotel more days than originally planned, but he didn't care. So unless you're a glutton for punishment, don't bother!!! Spend your money elsewhere!!

good price, awful manager
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/01/08
It's a poor place to stay. Although the location was good, the neighborhood wasn't secure. There were many bums around. At first the manager was kind and polite, but when we checked out he was very rude. He said no when we asked him if we could store our bags in the backroom for several hours. He agreed but he changed his mind and charged us $10 afterwards when we came to claime the bags. It was really awful.

Terrible unless location is all that matters
By Jonathan, 07/04/08
The goods - great location, close to anything in Northern San Fran. The bads - Biohazard needle disposal bucket hanging in bathroom. Had a professional (prostitute) proposition my friend as he was walking out our door. Had multiple yelling fights going on in the parking lot over a 3 day period. No air conditioning. Beds were the worst that I have ever slept in. Key cards to door had to be reset probably 6 or 7 times in 3 days. Window in bathroom was in an alley out back so it would be easy to break in undetected. Front sliding window to room would not lock. I could slide open window from outside, reach in and open the front door. Internet worked only 1 out of 3 days.

A Positive Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/07/08
Just stayed there last week. Hey, it's a discount motel, so if your'e very picky, then spend the extra money to stay somewhere nicer. I thought the room was just fine, clean. The onsite parking was great, although it's an extra $10 per day. No complaints. I believe I got a good value.

HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/20/07
This a value-priced hotel so it is what it is. What makes it horrible is the management. I cut my stay short because there was a mouse in my room and a leaking ceiling. Management did not offer me another room so I checked out early. Upon checkout, I was charged a room rate that was much higher than that confirmed at the time of reservation. It took almost a month to receive credit for the overcharge. In addition, the property manager tacked on additional charges after I checked out and flat out lied about the details of my stay. Complaints to Travelodge's main customer service department were not promptly addressed nor were they very helpful in resolving the issue. Again, it's a budget hotel, so keep your expectations in line when it comes to the quality of the accommodations. However, I suggest steering clear of a place with such apathetic and dishonest management.

Great bargain
By ROBERT, 09/18/07
Hardly a "dump". Everything was new and immaculately clean. Very basic, but it's right in the heart of the city and you can walk a few yards and catch a bus or trolley anyplace you want to go in The City. Parking is kind of rough...but who needs a car in San Francisco?

Fine Budget Motel
By Edward, 12/15/06
I had a fine stay here December 11 & 12, 2006. Good-quality budget motel Located near intersection of Market & Van Ness Streets, a main street car station. I would gladly stay here again.

It's a great deal!
By RonaldT, 07/07/06
I liked: the very friendly staff, the good coffee, the central location, the street car line right outside, the restaurants nearby, the cleanliness, the television, the price ($46.00/night plus $10.00/day to park), the ease of finding the place (right off the expressway). I disliked: the large number of bums/professional homeless roaming around. But, this is a San Francisco problem, not a Travelodge problem. You stay in SF, you deal with the bums.
