Horrid service, don't do it!!
By HappyKillaPants, 10/19/08
Lets start with the one positive thing, it has a great veiw. My wife and I went there for our 2 year aniversery, we had our room reserved for 2 months in advance, and called 2 weeks in andvance to confirm this. When we arrived to check into our loft room with a jacuzzi on the porch we were told that room no longer EXSITS!!! They were in the middle of a remodel and had removed the jacuzzies from that type of room, so we got a fairly decent room, with an small (barely 2 person) jacuzzi tub. The room had been remodled and was fairly nice. However, every morning at 7am construction began, which if we had known that it was under construction we would not have stayed there, obviously. Next problem, there are 0 services in the area, if you want to eat, drink, buy anything you have to go 30 miles either direction, on hwy 1, which means it will take you 1.5 hrs round trip to get a bottle of wine, or whatever. Because of this, our 2nd (and thankfully last) night, we decided to have our anniversery dinner in the resturant there. HUGE MISTAKE!!!! We ordered steamed muscles for an app, which were fishy and overcooked. We waited 1.5 hrs, in a nearly empty dinning room, to get a steak, which was ok, and my wife to get a prawns dinner, which was overcooked, fishy, sides were undercooked. I complained to the waitress and she compd us some of our drinks, but not all, and our check was still $100!!!! When we asked to speak to the hotel manager we were told she was out for the day. Told them that we were not paying $440 for the service we had recieved over the last 2 days, and she said a manager would call us that day. 1 week later my wife called back to speak with the manager, who was out, but left a message, 1 week after that same thing. It has been a month and we have recieved no calls, so SCREW THAT PLACE!!! Made me feel bad for my wife, you know, anniverseries are about the women in you life, and it really put a damper on ours.

As Good As Ever
By Harold, 09/27/08
I am a returning patron--I am glad to see that someone is investing in a great hotel and making even better. Each and every employee-including the construction people were beyond friendly. I had a special person with me and she truly had a great time.

Rustic getaway
By Lisa F, 06/18/08
This was a great getaway. CA 1 is pretty curvy and windy, but once you get there, the staff is great and helpful! There is nothing around you except the resort itself, so hiking and relaxing is all there is to do. Rooms are good size, rustic wood, nice fireplace, most have hot tubs too.

Expensive with poor facilities.
By Mojojo, 05/18/08
Compared to all of the other places we stayed on our trip (Vancouver to San Francisco) this place was expensive with poor facilities. Not even coffee making or a fridge in the room. It's all built in an interesting, grand architectural style, and was probably really nice a few years ago, but now everything just seems dusty, outmoded, and a bit depressing. The best thing about the place were the views, and the semi-tame racoons that visit the balconies and gardens.

Worst Place to Stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/10/07
Timber Cove Inn has ocean views -- period. Obviously the owners are trying to get everything they can from the property without doing any upkeep. Granted it is designed to be rustic but at the prices charged I expect it to at least have clean; towels, bedding, carpet and restaurant. If you want gray towels, see through bedding sheets, a modern pop belly stove (fireplace?), rude staff, and cobwebs stay here. The entire place has an aura of neglect disguised as 'rustic'.

The Worst
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/06/07
From the time we walked in until the time we left, the service was terrible. The barmaid seating us was rude and nasty to say the least. Our waitress did not smile, did not even offer us coffer or dessert after our meal. The only good thing was the food and another woman who was not our server. When we asked to speak to a manager we were told she was out sick. I have never had such rude service for $200.00 in my life! Will never go back and would not recommend it to anyone!

Hidden Gem on the Pacific Coast
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/03/07
I stayed there in August of 2004 with my 2 dogs. Timber Cove was listed in a book as being "pet friendly". The room was spotless and spacious with a rustic feeling, the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, and we had a wonderful stay. Especially thrilling was watching the seals off the coast at dusk, and the majestic views. Really interesting history in this area, and I will definitely be back! The restaurant had outstanding food, but a bit overpriced, and perhaps a bit too "white tablecloth-ish" for the location. But all in all, a really wonderful find!

Beware Breathers!
By Megan N, 07/30/07
Traveling most the day down the beautiful coast with an RV, trailer, and motorcycles, our family (from Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Ohio and of course California) was looking for a nice spot for yummy food and friendly faces. This is NOT what we got a Timber Cove. We walked in to a rustic type of restaurant filled with cobwebs and cats. The bartender was a hateful woman with complete disregard for anyone breathing. Seriously… all breathers BEWARE! The detestable grump barked our direction that there wasn’t room for us, that we would have to wait… unless we (all 9 of us) split up into groups of two. Hmmm…nine divided by 2???? Yeah family that drives across the country wants to split up in pairs of two to eat. When we asked if we could eat at the bar I could have sworn smoke came out her nose. People my brows are crisp! Enraged she explained that she had already told us that they didn’t have any room for us and that she doesn’t “allow any food near the bar”. It was a lodge full of workers who hated their jobs. Not a friendly face in the house. From the moment we walked in the door till we left, we were treated like garbage. When we asked for the manager we were told that “they were out and about”. I would say the only thing nice about Timber Cove is the ocean that surrounds it and hopefully swallows it!

Extremely Poor Accommodations!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/07/07
After driving on a highway full of sharp turns for 2 1/2 hours we reached Timber Cove Inn. We asked where check in was and they sent us to the end of the bar. There were several drunk people at the bar. The receptionist finally came to the end of the bar and signed us in. We carried our luggage down a dark corridor. When we opened our room door we could smell urine and cigarette smoke. The carpet was badly stained as were the blinds. The entire place was very run down and poorly maintained. We went back to the main lobby and asked to be seated for dinner. It was 9:30. We were told we only had a half hour before the resturant closed and to make our dinner choices. The dinner was less than average and very expensive. We went back to our room after dinner to find that raccoons had entered our room and tore through our belongings! The smells in the room got worse as you sat there. We went back to the bar to ask for a change of rooms but the staff had all gone home! We checked out the next morning and traveled further north. There is a wonderful lodge in the town of Gualala that is in excellent condition with wonderful views. We would suggest that you continue further north and avoid Timber Cove Inn!

Smelly rooms not as expected
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/19/07
My husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and had saved up our money to do something special. It was our 25th year of marriage. We wanted to stay along the northern California Coast. After looking at several lodges on the internet we saw Timber Cove Inn and decided to call. The reservationist told us the Inn would be perfect for our anniversary. She described the rooms and told us that the $240 room with a filtered view of the ocean would be her choice. We arrived late Friday afternoon excited to celebrate our anniversay. When we checked in the woman at the desk seemed uninterested but we went with it because we were tired and had driven over 2 1/2 hours to get there. We were handed one key and carried our luggage to our room. When we opened the door the room smelled very bad. There was a small view of the ocean. The bed looked like it had been there for many many years and had visible stains all across the bottom. The carpet also had dark brown stains. We slid open a sliding glass door to find animal droppings, cigarette butts, and a rusted lounge chair with a broken leg. The smell got worse as we stood there. We went back down to the check in desk, which is at the bar, and told the woman what we had found. She said "some like it and some don't" and walked away! When we got her attention again and told her that we found the room unacceptable and if she knew about the room and the smell. She said "Oh yes, that is racoon urine." That was enough for us. We asked for a refund and drove further north. We found a lovely lodge about 25 miles away with a beautiful ocean view and a very nice resturant. Consider driving further north. You will find some very nice accommodations there and wonderful ocean views. The only smell you will find is that of the sea! Better than the other...
