A Dream Hotel
By Andrea, 6/15/11
My experience was the best I have ever had in a hotel. One morning while in the well equiped computer room, the manager of the hotel came in - we chatted, spoke on several things in general. The he handed me his business card as he departed. To my surprise, I thought he was another guest! My room was exquisite, granite counters, decor was excellent, beds were comfortable with pillow top mattress - there was an Earthquake that Easter Sunday - the building is very well designed!! Hospitality was great. The amenities were really those of a higher end hotel without the price and parking was "FREE" I will Always stay there when visiting my son in San Diego.

TERRIBLE HOTEL
By Corey, 6/5/11
went out for my birthday and brought people back to the room. guest complained about the noise-so we turned down the music and tv. 2mins later got called about a noise complaint. Then I kicked everyone out of the room except for my girlfriend. Then we were talking to each other in the room and we were forced to leave the hotel because we were "talking to loud"-just me and her having a conversation...WTF!!!! cant even talk to the person you love??? So at 4am we were heavily intoxicated and forced to pay $295.26(room+valet+fees)and drive away from the hotel drunk, so i spent my birthday in a car on the street. I dont recommend this hotel for people who stay up after 12am and like to have fun while vacationing in San Diego. The hotel looks like a haunted house that my grandmother would sleep in-literally looks like a museum. Do not stay here.

It was wonderful!
By Tim, 2/2/11
The staff was very friendly and hospitable. The food in the restaurant was top quality and flavor. The breakfast was served slowly because someone did not show up for work so the staff surprised us with a bottle of lemonade on ice and a plate of chocolates. It is right in the middle of town. Horton Shopping Center and restaurants are within walking distance.

Horrible Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/30/10
During my stay, my vehicle was damaged by the Westgate valet. I filed a report with the security department and never heard back from them. I sent a letter to the General Manager and never heard from him either. A complete lack of concern for their guests well being.

Not worth for the money spent!!
By Krishna, 7/9/09
Pros: Nice location, Very elegant look, nearby to all the locations like night clubs, restaurants, sea world and Zoo. Cons: • No self parking had to pay $30/day apart form the room rent and taxes. Parking charge is no where mentioned in the hotel's website (just mentioned as valet parking) • 2 tiny water bottles provided to guests for the entire stay at the hotel. • No pool or hot tub or Jacuzzi. • No mini bar in the room. • Room service is very expensive and takes lots of time for you to get your things when you order something to room rather you can go get yourself. • They deduct some $$ everyday from the card (which is used for hotel booking) as "Incidental charges", If the hotel has to refund those charges, it would take more than a week to get back into account/card. On the whole stay at this hotel comfortable but very very expensive. Not at all worth for the money spent!!!

the hotel was great, getting around san diego was easy. the only problem was the homeless people after about 4pm. they made walking to the 7 eleven across the street very uncomfortable.

Best experience ever!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/18/07
Copy of a letter I just sent to the hotel: My husband and I recently stayed at your hotel. We were there on Monday and Tuesday nights, September 3rd and 4th. I am writing to tell you that our stay with you was the most pleasant we have ever had at a hotel. When we were first greeted we were told by the very lovely young woman at the front desk that we were upgraded to an upper floor (our room was 1689 I believe). When we saw the room we were floored! It was so elegantly decorated - with a beautiful bath and dressing area - and very roomy. The rooms were very quiet and the beds extremely comfortable. The maid responded very quickly to a request for a few additional pillows. As soon as we were settled in we had drinks at one of your bars - and - again - were greeted and served by a very sweet but professional young woman. We felt totally comfortable and decided right then and there that if we could have we WOULD have booked an extra day or two. We were thinking about going out for dinner - but opted on having dinner at your restaurant (the cafe) because the menu did look very good. The wait staff was great and so was the food. Breakfast the next day was also a delight. People say that your hotel room is not a big deal because you don't spend all day in your room. You are out sight-seeing most of the time. This is not true for us. Even though we spent the entire day at the zoo - and also visited Coronado in the short time we were in San Diego, the hotel and the hotel room are VERY important to us. The hotel can make or break your vacation time. Again - from the bell man who took our bags to our room to the young man who retrieved our car for us on the morning we left, we were treated with extraordinary courtesy. We will probably not be back to San Diego - but I almost feel like visiting the city again JUST to stay at the Westgate. Thank you once again for the wonderful two days we spent with you.

Well worth the money...
By BethV, 8/13/07
Spent a wonderful long weekend at the Westgate. Made it in time for the Friday evening Seafood Soiree...what a treat! Not only was the seafood and sushi incredible, the staff was friendly and attentive. Also tried a martini in the bar. Great! Service was top notch. Piano player/singer was extremely good. Pleasant interaction with the crowd. Enjoyed the room. Great water pressure in the shower! May not mean alot to some, but I loved it. Great views. Great shops, coffee houses, mall within walking distance. I will definitely be back.
