This historic hotel has been tastefully and authentically restored. It's charming! The Restaurant is simply excellent, and the bar is a kick.
If you overlook the comfortable modern mattresses and sparkling, well-appointed bathrooms, the whole place would serve as an excellent movie set portraying California's illustrious Gold Rush Days.
For a nominal fee your pet is welcome here, but unlike some places, pet owners are not relegated to threadbare second-rate quarters or smoker's rooms. There don't appear to be pets-only areas. We had the only dog there---it's not overrun with furry guests.
The National Hotel offers a package including dinner, a play, and a night's lodging that is hard to beat. A truly delightful getaway!
