Try some other hotel
By satnam, 7/5/06
This expensive hotel has no such thing as service. After driving from San Francisco for 5 hours with my family, had to wait in the lobby for 45 minutes. We arrived half an hour late after the check in time, still the room was not available. -No drinking water in the room. They charge for a glass of water too. -The a/c was switched off to save electricity when we got in the room. -Forget about the views from the room they advertise on the web. -The elevator in the parking lot was not working.Had to use stairs from the fourth floor with the baggage and kids. Use this hotel only if u are willing to go thru all of this. Bar people were friendly.

Horrible service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/30/06
Me and my wife checked in to this hotel for a 2 night stay in which we were going to tour universal studios. For the price that they charge one would expect good service at the least. Service, however, is not a considered a priority as far as this hotel is concerned. I should have known better when the receptionist (both at the front desk and the one taking reservations)was being rude when I was calling to make the reservation. We had to wait in the lobby for an hour before our bags were taken to our room. It is also very noisy and dirty. I will, and recommend that the reader of this post, never stay here stay here.

Go to the Hilton instead
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/21/06
For what I paid for this hotel, I expected a clean and well kept experience. What I got was an expensive hotel that was not well kept(ie. damage to carpeting, wall paper peeling, dirty fixtures). The Hilton next door was beautiful for less money! Also, the buffet breakfast was $16.00 per person! Like most visiting Universal Studios, I have 2 small children who eat very, very little and paying that much for what they eat is ridiculous.

We won't be back!
By MONICA, 10/28/05
We usually stay at the Hilton next door, but tried the Sheraton. When we checked in, we were given a very small room. It was awful! The couch was almost touching the end of the bed, the room was so narrow. The pillows on the bed, were scattered over the bed & the pillow cases were off the pillows, just laying there. We had to call the front desk twice & complain. They claimed it was so booked, that was all they had. The second time we called & pointed out the room was NOT worth what they were charging us that they finally "found" us a better room. That room was much better & they gave us breakfast vouchers to apologize. I won't go back, there was no reason to try & put us in such an inferior room, without offering a big discount & apology!

Entirely Too Noisy
Regard the title of this review. I stayed there last night on 7/5/05 and was not able to sleep AT ALL. Not even 5 minutes' worth. There is noise from the freeway, people coming in drunk at 2 am from the Universal Citiwalk up the street, rattling from the elevators, hotel staff walking the halls making noise at all hours, and people waking up at 5 and 6 am making their own noise on top of everyone else's. The door are hinged to shut on their own, and when they do they practically slam shut. Now all of this wouldn't be much of a problem if there was a means of blocking out the sounds eminating from outside the room. BUT THERE IS NONE! There is no fan in the bathroom to create a drone; there is a heating/ac unit in each room but with no fan option. The ac unit does create a audible whirring sound, but it is woefully inadequate. Also, I asked the front desk at 4:30am to see if they had any portable fans to lend to guests, BUT THEY DO NOT HAVE THEM! Now, granted, I am a little peeved at my sleep being deprived; but an oversight of this magnitude is absolutely inexcuseable. It only takes an $80 purchase to buy 4 portable fans from Wal-Mart to lend out to the guests. I will not stay here again. I would have been guaranteed a better night's sleep at Motel 6. I will say this--the rest of the service and other aspects of the stay were decent. But obviously, none of the management team has actually stayed the night in any of these rooms. Would you or anyone you know purchase a new vehicle that has not been test-driven? Of course not. Then, heed my advice and do not stay here unless you are the heaviest of sleepers. (I even took sedatives this night I am describing and they were not enough to overcome the aforementioned distractions!) Note: I did just wake up from a long nap (in my own bed at home, of course) hence the relative coherence of my review. But be assured this actually happened.

WOW......Classy :)
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/21/05
After attempting to stay at the Quality Inn in Little Toyko(which is the worse hotel I have ever been to) This hotel was a huge upgrade. The night we stayed there was a graduation and a high school reunion. The staff was Very nice and helpful. The elevators were a little snug and kinda slow but there were allot of people. The rooms were amazing. Real blankets not the cheap motel 8 ones. They were plush and warm. The beds each had 4 pillows filled w/down feathers. The fridge was stocked full of snacks and beverages for the young and old. The prices if you accually took anything out of there were pretty average. they provided many towels. Check in and check out was easy and fast. If you have a discount card thru work called Universal Fan Club Card you save over $40 a night. You can get these cards if you for a major company in your human resource dept. Have Fun!! p.s. location was only 10 min walking to Hollywood studios and the city walk which has over 17 places to eat, a movie theatre, and tons of shopping.

Sheraton Universal - good hotel
By Ann, 3/16/04
I stayed at the Sheraton Universal with a large group of friends in May 2003. It's a huge hotel that's an easy walk to Universal Studios. The rooms were large and clean - fairly typical. The staff was friendly and helpful, although the check out lines were really long. Overall, a nice hotel.
