Entirely Too Noisy
Regard the title of this review. I stayed there last night on 7/5/05 and was not able to sleep AT ALL. Not even 5 minutes' worth. There is noise from the freeway, people coming in drunk at 2 am from the Universal Citiwalk up the street, rattling from the elevators, hotel staff walking the halls making noise at all hours, and people waking up at 5 and 6 am making their own noise on top of everyone else's. The door are hinged to shut on their own, and when they do they practically slam shut.
Now all of this wouldn't be much of a problem if there was a means of blocking out the sounds eminating from outside the room. BUT THERE IS NONE!
There is no fan in the bathroom to create a drone; there is a heating/ac unit in each room but with no fan option. The ac unit does create a audible whirring sound, but it is woefully inadequate. Also, I asked the front desk at 4:30am to see if they had any portable fans to lend to guests, BUT THEY DO NOT HAVE THEM!
Now, granted, I am a little peeved at my sleep being deprived; but an oversight of this magnitude is absolutely inexcuseable. It only takes an $80 purchase to buy 4 portable fans from Wal-Mart to lend out to the guests.
I will not stay here again. I would have been guaranteed a better night's sleep at Motel 6. I will say this--the rest of the service and other aspects of the stay were decent. But obviously, none of the management team has actually stayed the night in any of these rooms. Would you or anyone you know purchase a new vehicle that has not been test-driven? Of course not. Then, heed my advice and do not stay here unless you are the heaviest of sleepers. (I even took sedatives this night I am describing and they were not enough to overcome the aforementioned distractions!)
Note: I did just wake up from a long nap (in my own bed at home, of course) hence the relative coherence of my review. But be assured this actually happened.
