Great Hotel
By Bill, 1/16/10
Don't know what all the negative postings are about. Wife and I just stayed there and have never stayed in a nicer Hotel. Staff was always pleasant, room was great. Well worth the money. Close to alot of great/fun things to see and do. The Subway is near by,as is the bus lines. Given the chance would go back to this hotel anytime.

Military/Government Need Not Inquire
By Common Sense, 7/20/09
We arrived from Nellis Air Force Base NV with 12 teenagers of deployed families and our rooms (6) were not ready, then when we returned at 3pm we were told the credit card form we recieved via fax previous day and took Sherton 5 hours to fax was the wrong one and we could not get into the rooms until the holder of the credit card filled out the correct one which the card holder was back in Vegas on a field trip with other kids. What really topped it off was this information was coming from the general manager. His reasoning was because they have let guest do that before(check in) and they have skipped out on the bill. HELLO!!! United States Government! You had all of our Billing Information including a copy of the credit card, our base address, e-mail address, and phone number so skipping out would have been thelast thing we could have done. Having 12 teeangers waiting to get into a room after driving 5 hours in 15 passenger van would have been the most impotant thing. Money from the Government is as good as Gold but not at the Sheraton Universal.

MAJOR ANT PROBLEM, TERRIBLE SERVICE!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/10/08
Wow, is what I have to say to the service I received when I notified them about the thousands of ants infested in my room. My wife and I came back to our room in the afternoon to take a rest and lo and behold and infestation of ants has swarmed the unopened (new) box of entenmans donuts we had in the room. This triggered a thought (when I was sleeping I thought I had an ear infection because my ear was bothering and making noises) now I realize I probably had an ant in my ear. I went to the front desk to report the problem and they said they would meet me in the room to inspect the problem. I went back to the room 10 minutes later still no one there. I went back to the front desk to ask for a manager and he came out and said they will take off the amount we paid for late check out ($100 until 6pm), and give us another room. I said I am actually disgusted and we are leaving soon anyway so we don't want another room. I asked is that all you are going to do? Being that I was a Starwood member I was shocked that they didn't even offer a meal comp at minimum (i was expecting a free stay for the one I just paid for or a future free stay) he said well we will pay for your donuts? Thats when I had to walk away because I was about to flip out on him. Apparently the hotel is well aware of this ant problem and either cant control it or chooses to ignore it. I spoke to a few other guests and they also saw ants around the hotel, maybe not as bad as my room but still that is disgusting! and the way they chose to handle the situation explains that they are well aware and cant afford to give everyone a credit. Bottom line, the service is horrible and given with an attitude and who wants to stay with an ANT any infestation

Room Infested with Ants
By HHOWLAND, 1/8/08
location is good but the rooms are disgusting. Ants infested the bathroom and there was tons of noise from construction. I will never stay here again.

Not a great experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/4/07
Stayed here for the third time for a weekend in August, 2007. In the past, my experience was ok. I was attending a function and got a decent rate. This time, was not a pleasant experience. The elevator was either out of service or extremely slow. I was on the fifth floor and several times, I had to use the stairs. It took forever for my room to be ready. On the second day, my key wouldn't work in the door. I called down and had to wait a long time before someone came up. Then, I had to get a new key myself at the front desk. There were a lot of events going on that weekend, so you would think the service would be better. Next time, I will stay at the neighboring Hilton.

...A good stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/1/07
About 20 years ago, I'd stayed at the Sheraton Universal and, because of business, opted to stay there again. After reading some reviews, I was dreading the worst. I was put up in one of the "Lanai Rooms" around the pool--the room was very clean, everything worked, etc. The worst I could say: the bathroom was a little small, but not really a problem. Staff was very nice and helpful, especially the concierge staff. The only thing that was a little "iffy" was the nearby restaurant (I believe it's called "The Californias.") The food seemed a little uneven. But, all in all, while staying for 3 nights, I had no problems at all and would probably stay there again.

Hotel Without Heat
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/26/06
There were several major problems with this Sheraton. One: there was no heat available until the temperature went below 58 degrees, so the room was very cold. We asked twice for a space heater, twice a space heater was promised, but no space heater ever materialized. Finally the heat went on. The other major problem: the room (1102) was old, dingy, worn, stained, and in dire need of refurbishing. It had once had a mini bar, but it was now empty and the door dangling without a handle. At least the room was quiet (unlike one of the other reviews). At one point the elevator did not work, or at least did not stop on the 11th floor, and guests had to use the service elevator. On the positive side, the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful, and the hotel is very well located right next to Universal Studios. But the Hilton is too, and it looked much nicer--at least from the outside!

Stay Away
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/28/06
After changing rooms three times in a three day stay I can assure you all, that this place is in dire need of a total renovation and front desk re-staffing. Our first room was a handicapped room with a king bed non smoking but no air conditioning and no closet. There were hooks on a wall three feet above the floor to hang your clothes. The carpets were filthy and stained as was the one chair in the room. The bathroom was large to fit a wheel chair but the floor and tub needed to be scrubbed and cleaned. The front desk sent up a repair man to fix the ac and gave us a fan. The repair man said that it would be hours to fix and was not certain that it could be fixed as this room was converted and altered so things were not typical. Upon calling the front desk and arguing with the manager she finally gave in and changed our room to a smoking room with double beds. This room also had stained furniture and carpeting and the bathroom really needed to be scrubbed. Glad I brought my lysol spray! Double beds wouldn't work for us because we needed a king and a cot or roll away bed for the third guest. Calling the front desk we were informed that the hotel was full and there was nothing they could do. So I proceeded to call the 800 number reservations desk and made a totally new reservation for the remaining days, We needed to a non smoking, king room with a pull out sofa bed. Amazing how the 800 reservation desk showed available rooms. We went down to the front desk and told them to take us out of the old room and put us in the newly reserved room. The new room was the same old stained carpets and furniture and dirty bathroom but at least it was non smoking with a king bed and pull out couch bed. So beware - Unless this hotel is refurbished with new carpeting and furniture and a new front desk staff - stay away. You have been warned.
