Don't go here
By Kara, 11/15/09
stayed here with my infant son and found it to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. I wish I would have read the reviews first. no extras, not even shampoo, and no tv or phone. They have cut corners everywhere and its shows. spend a little extra and go somewhere else. We stayed in room 15 and the toilet didn't flush. we were moved to #9 with no apologies, no discount, and in to a room that was dark inside a hall. Several other rooms were available but rather than give us a small upgrade they were cheap and stuck us in dark scary closet of a hotel room. I should have left then and gone somewhere else. we were eaten alive by mosquitoes in my room and I didn't sleep one wink. Ownership changed several years back and they cut every little extra. Gigantic waste of money -I am still attempting to get a refund. The woman at the desk was as helpful as she could be considering that the owners leave her with very little to work with. what a shame.

Bates runs a better motel
By Darras, 6/19/09
Dirty, NO amenities, NO phone, NO restaurant, NO room in the room. Unbelievable that this place is still open. Go anywhere else and you will have a better experience. Sleeping in the car would be better than this motel.

Very Bad Experience
By reyland s, 2/17/09
We just went there over this weekend, Valentines Day to be exact. My wife did a catering for 50 people who rented a vacation house accross this Salt Point Lodge. It so happened that the couple made us a reservation for me and my wife. As soon as i checked in i had a feeling that this is not gonna be a good night for us. When i open the door, the room smells bad, the carpet is so old, the linens smells too. I have no choice not to stay overnight in that room, because there was storm that night and it is to dangerous to drive up in the mountains. I could hardly wait for the next morning. At 5:00 a.m. i got up and hit the road right away and did not look back. I will not recommend other friends to stay there. Please stay away from this lodge.

Spooky lodge!
By Mane, 1/28/09
This place is not worth your money. It is dark, empty and spooky especially in the evening and nights. There are no parking lights, no heating and no hot water. There is this one lady at the reception desk who seems to leave by 9pm. There is no one else at the reception desk if you need help. There is no 24/7 service. They have no cable, and phone services. Also the bed sheets stink and the bathroom doesnot have proper lighting. Their bar and grill is shut down. The view from the lodge is not great either. So please stay away from this place and donot waste your money!

DONOT STAY!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/6/08
This place is so spooky.... No one stays there.. It is dark and empty.. There is no phone /hot water/heater/TV channels... It is definitely not worth the money and it is a very dump place... The ocean view is not that great.. Even worse, the "HOT" tub is a "cold" tub.. It does not work.. Do not stay in this place!

Stay away!!!!
By carol, 10/20/08
Sheets so thin you can almost read through them and the elastic doesn't hold them onto the old 70's era mattress. Waking up touching that stained, probably cootie-laden mattress...arughh! No clock, phone, spa, tv reception, my grandpa's vcr collection to check out, no ice machine, curtains from maybe 1969, bedspread and blanket from the same era including accumulated stains, restaurant limited and questionable. We stopped into the restaurant to check out the menu and noticed only one couple in there, and they were just being served their dinners. The comment that hit us was, "This tuna is raw." The only nice part of this was the friendly woman who check us in. We really like cute little clean motels with good beds. This isn't one of them. False advertising! AVOID at all costs!

Fine for us
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/11/08
Under new management. Restaurant open. Great view and close to Fort Ross- Russian settlement. Not fancy but beautiful gardens, nice staff. If you go for fancy amenities this is not the place but for very reasonable get away or stop over it is fine.

TAKE ANOTHER LOOK
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/6/08
We read the other reviews, it may have been that way before, but not now! The setting is one of the best on the coast. SPECTACULAR VIEWS. The restaraunt is under new management and is a family run operation. Friendly, great food, great view. Whether you are stopping for food, a drink or staying the weekend its worth the drive. I hope those that had bad expiernces will give it another try it has made all the right changes. I will be going again and again I am sure. In talking with the chef, he's friendly and customer service ranks high, I found he has been at many award winning restaraunts. I look forward to trying more items on the menu. Lady from Magalia

What a horror story!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/8/06
I can't begin to list the things wrong with this place - from no telephone service, cell phones don't work here, green hot tub, urine smelling bathroom, holes in walls, filthy bedspread and blankets, higher price than on web site, and the killer - the front desk person leaves the grounds at 9 p.m. and does not return until 11 the next morning, leaving only the housekeeper, a non-English speaking man! One night, we were actually the only people there! Also, when I asked for my money back - you pay in full upon arrival - the desk person refused to credit me for any day we did not stay! And, without phone service, I was unable to do anything about it. The owner, of course, was not available and he was the only one would make any adjustments! Do not stay here! Go on to Jenner or up to Sea Ranch and stay there!

A Few Problems
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/3/05
I just visited "Salt Point Lodge" weekend Oct 2nd and 3thd and first there is NO bar and grill! It;s been closed for awile and they do not mention this in their website. There is no ICE machine, it's broke and third there's only ONE cable station on the tv. You have to watch videos provided in the front desk. These to say are pretty old! For the price I was very dissapointed!
