Walnut Creek Marriott, Walnut Creek

After staying at this Marriott, now suspect that this property is not going to stay a Marriott. It does not meet the standard of other Marriott properties. The staff is not effective or responsive. Noted there is usually folks at the front counter that look busy, but not willing to help guests. I observed one day that there were three front desk workers, but only one guest being helped and five more guests waiting to be assisted. The rooms and especially the elevators are slow, old and dated in style. I note that the valet parking staff did try to not allow guest to self-park (free). So overall this was not the representative Marriott hotel.

The problems startet already at check-In. My company reserved the room and the staff had problems charging the right credit card (my company had to fax them several times their credit card authorization). Staff was always unable to find it. The room itself was very clean, the bed was very very comfy but it was very noisy, since the hotel is right next to the freeway. Our room wasn´t even facing the freeway, but we still were able to here the traffic. The outside pool are was horrible noisy. Just a wall separated it from the freeway. No relaxing at all. The hotel food was bad (not worth the price), we had to pay for the internet access and there was no complimentary breakfast, which you would asume for that price. The night before I checked into that hotel, I stayed at a cheap motel just a view blocks away and that place had free internet access, pool, and a little (but better than nothing) breakfast, and the cost was more than half less. I would not recommend this hotel. In my opinion it´s overpriced for what you get and the staff at the front desk didn´t have much clue about anything.

As the title says this marriott is a joke. Staff is very rude and unwilling to help. The rooms are not that nice. Forced Valet parking so plan on spending an extra $20 a night. Car was dented and the staff said they didn't do it. Something was set on the roof during the stay and scratched it. I used to detail cars and pay very close attention and the scratch or dent were not there. Hotel food is really bad. HI Express food OWNS this hotels food. I gave them the benefit of the doubt though and gave them 1 star. Coincidentally this hotel and the Fremont Marriott are horrible. Had a similar experieice there. Thanks to Marriott I have to stay away from Priceline which I love. The chance of selecting another Marriott will make me use Expedia. I just can't stay at a Marriott after the way they treated me.

Although I am a native of Walnut Creek, I moved away several years ago. My stay at the Marriott was wonderful The hotel is conveniently located. The staff are attentive and helpful. Our room was comfortable and had just enough space.
