Oxford Suites Pismo Beach, Pismo Beach

Overall I enjoyed my two day stay here. Office staff people were friendly and my room was well equipped with all the amenities featured. The morning breakfast was very good. However, if you are there on a busy weekend and stay for breakfast arrive early. There can be a long line for breakfast starting at 8:45.

I stayed here for a month during the Diablo Canyon Outage last year and really enjoyed it. The rooms are large with a separate living room. Breakfast was good and always as much as I could eat. They even throw in a few beers and snacks in the evening. (No extra charge) With all of that included, I'll be back for the next Outage.

I like the gal in the lounge very nice. The others (front desk, breakfast servers not so friendly) I needed more towels the front desk gave me two more so I thought that was it. My kids were in the pool outside my room and my husband was in the lounge finishing his drink. I didn't think to double lock my door. I had my extra towels. I was showering and heard the outside door open. I yell out to who I thought was my husband just to find out it was the Maintenance man (creepy) I was so uncomfortable after I told my husband never leave me alone in the room. Place is NOT CLOSE TO BEACH!!! Have to drive everywhere.

We liked our stay at Oxford. I had two kids with me, and my friends, older couple, stayed next to us on the second floor. The breakfasts were great, and I liked the evening snack, too, though if you weren't there when it opened, things would run out. If you wound up there at the end of the appointed time, you might get a few chips, or nothing, but still there was the free drink coupon. I liked using the lobby computers, as Ihave no laptop, and I coul,d check my emails, and confirm my flight without asking for a key, or going to an isolated area. Also, they had fruit at check in. I did not experience parking difficulties when we were there, even though there were a lot of people there and a car show, so some people had trailers. To me, the one negative review sounded over the top, but maybe all of the factors required to make one person's stay unpleasant were there, but it was not representative of our experiences. It's nice not have noise and air brakes, like you often hear at the other end of town. This is our 5th year at Pismo in October, and we love it there.

Was quoted one price on the phone and a different price at check in. Also was told kids cost extra (even though I told them on the phone I had 2 kids) and was told at the desk there was no discount for County Gov't after being told on the phone there was. The clerk seemed happy to tell me all of this too. A/C in room didn't work, slider in bedroom was missing screen and the only other window doesn't open. TV remote was missing, we only got one bar of soap for 2 nights however we did get 2 fresh plastic cups the second night for the 3 of us. My kid cut her foot on something in the pool. Breakfast dining room was crowded and small but the food was OK. The room and the hotel itself were pretty good, but Management needs to get their act together.

I was a little apprehensive booking here because of a very few unfavorable reviews located elsewhere. Especially so, since my wife is extremely picky when it comes to cleanliness. However, we both agreed that this place was great! The suite we had was very clean, the pool & breakfast area, was spotless and so was the lounge where the evening reception is held (Great munchies!) I think even more important was the friendliness of staff, without exception - everyone we talked to was very friendly. This is a GREAT kids-friendly hotel. We had two with us and they had a fantastic time in the pool. By the way, the Wireless internet connection worked great in our suite and we were located at the far end of the property. We WILL stay here again!

Where do I start? When I arrived to check-in, I was immediately informed that I didn�t mention my"children"(you would think they were a disease the way the night manager K@thy referred to them) and was then given a different room other than what I had asked for. I was then told that it was my fault for ordering the wrong room, that I had booked my reservation online, and that I had only made the reservation for two people. When I told her that I had actually called and talked to a clerk two days earlier to book the room, and that the clerk confirmed a room with two beds (because I had mentioned my children), she made no apologies, gave many excuses, and kept insisting that it was my fault for booking the wrong room. People were standing and smoking directly outside our door when we arrived at our non-smoking room. We could hear them talking and smell their smoke even with the door closed. Apparently this is an accepted practice because all around the balcony areas other people were smoking, talking loudly, yelling to people downstairs hanging out near the pool area, and just standing around with their front doors wide open staring at each other like they were at some sort of meat market. This was at 11:00 at night!! The rooms couldn�t have possibly been any less comfortable. This newly remodeled room had a mattress so lumpy and hard that it gave me back pains and all-over soreness after sleeping on it; the floor would probably have been more comfortable; I swept the pillows off the bed and opted for a towel sometime in the middle of the first night after waking up with a sore, stiff neck. Upon returning to my room the next afternoon, I discovered that room service hadn�t really cleaned the room and had only replaced one towel. They did not change the wrinkled sheets, did not pick up the soap wrapper in the shower area, empty the garbage, pick up the wet towels on the floor, restock the soap and shampoo, vacuum, or give us a new bag for the ice bin. After asking to speak to the manager about this incident he promised to get housekeeping up to our room again immediately to clean it. We arrived again later that evening to find the same mess that was in the room earlier; the only change was that the bed sheets were tighter, and we now had four towels again. It was still the same sheets, and the same garbage in the room. The hotel requires a ticket for each person wanting to take part in the complimentary breakfast. These tickets must be obtained daily from the front desk each day in advance. They take the ticket system very seriously. What a nuisance for people that don�t want to spend a whole lot of time passing through the hotel lobby each day conversing with snooty, snippy clerks. I can understand the tickets for evening drinks (probably the reason so many people were tipsy), but for breakfast???? and a new ticket for each person every day???? What a waste of paper. Parking is scarce and difficult (most people parked over the stall lines)when this hotel is heavily booked. Since you might have to park in the Motel 6 lot, you might as well stay there. We should have. Children are not allowed in the pool after 9:00p.m. The pool is open till 10:00p.m. This place seemed to have an attitude against children. I�m not sure why they are excluded from the pool area considering it would be hard for them to make more noise than the adults made after 10:00p.m. Thinking about staying here? If you�re looking for an overpriced place to party into the night and find a date for the evening, I would highly recommend this hotel. If you�re looking for a nice quiet place to stay that is family friendly, offers good customer service, clean accommodations, and a friendly staff, we certainly didn�t find it here. We doubt you will either.

TOP NOTCH! Service was excellent,Room was large and clean. Breakfast was GREAT, and the evening reception was a nice break after a busy day. The only question is.Why stay anywhere else?

When I go to the Central Coast on business, my company used to put me up in Lompoc, but since finding the Oxford Suites in Pismo, I can't stay anywhere else. Breakfast is top notch everyday, and the evening reception time always has something to eat. The service folks are great, the suites are quite large and with a TV in both rooms, a fridge and microwave, it's like being at home!
