Won't Go Back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/12/09
Rooms are way too small for your money, bathroom ridiculously small. Construction in the room right above us woke us up before 8 a.m. two days in a row; they offered no compensation for this (not even free parking) claiming that time in the morning is acceptable. Really? No. Save your money and go elsewhere.

NOT GREAT
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/21/08
About the best thing the hotel offers is location and free internet. As far as everything else not worth it. Rooms are out dated, paper thin walls I can hear everything happening in the next room or in the hallway. No refrigerator, coffee maker. Hard to get the right water temp. in the shower. The tv is old. Not as expected from this type of hotel

Why All the Negative Reviews
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/11/08
I was very apprehensive about our stay after reading some of the reviews. However after staying there for 2 nights I found all this negativity unfounded and had nothing but praise for the staff. The room was clean and comfortable and sure it was a little worn but no more so than many other more expensive hotels we stayed at during our trip to the USA. I would have no hesitation in staying there again

Excellent Choice
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/13/08
I stayed at the Wilshire Grand in late May through the first week of June in 2008, and found it to be a wholly pleasant experience. Yes, the room was small, but since I am only sleeping there, what do I need a large room for? The lobby is overwhelming and gorgeous; the staff pleasant and helpful; the restaurants within the hotel are excellent. All in all, I enjoyed my stay at this lovely hotel, it's an excellent choice !

make another choice when in LA
By disappointed, 7/19/08
This was probably a lovely hotel in the 50's, however nothing has changed since then. Extremely dated and worn carpets and furnishings. A/C is non- existent. They still provide "bedspreads" on the beds. Sinks drain slow as molasses. Walls are thin; I think there was a kindergarten next door! Beds are lumpy and soft. I think you get the jist.

Stay here at your own risk!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/5/08
We stayed at the Wilshire Grand Hotel in Los Angeles in October of 2007. Our car was thoroughly ransacked while in the Wilshire Grand hotel valet overnight. The car was not forced open so either hotel valet employees left it unlocked or they left the keys unprotected and someone else opened it. Several small items were stolen totaling approx. $500.00. This is not a fancy car (2000 Expedition) and the items stolen were my daughter's canvas book bag with her homework and a math calculator inside, my old tennis bag with my Bolle sunglasses inside (they left the $300.00 racquet) and a few other small items that you would not think about taking to the room. I guess if I had left visible cash or a Prada bag or a Rolex watch in the car I would understand that I was tempting fate but come on, A DIRTY CANVAS BOOK BAG????? I truly thought that the hotel would step up and compensate us for our small loses. Then I received a letter from the insurance company stating that nothing would be done as the hotel is "not responsible for anything left inside the car, just the car itself." So after numerous phone calls to various hotel employees we are left with a very bad experience and no compensation whatsoever. Really horrible experience with both security and hotel staff. By the way, if you want to park at the hotel you have to use the valet parking...the self parking is in a seperate building across the street. Being unfamiliar with the area we felt our safest bet was to park with the hotel valet. Big mistake!!! Stay here at your own risk!

Not so Grand !!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/24/08
It has been years since I stayed in downtown LA. What a shock! SAD !! This hotel is showing it's age and wear. The room is tiny, the bathroom is even tinier, the paint is chipping, the TV is old and tiny. The internet connection will not stay connected. We are here on business and a major foreign company is picking up the tab or we would move. The Best Western on I-5 was much cleaner, larger, nicer. The Hyatt in Seoul is much nicer so you can't blame the Korean ownership. But you can walk to the office and it is convenient to everything for business.

Worth a 2nd visit
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/26/07
I accompanied my wife who was attending a conf. here and from reading the reviews was a little uneasy about it. While I agree with many of the complaints about the property--nice lobby, but sorely in need of updates in the rooms, bathrooms are ridiculously small, a/c not working, etc. However, we stayed at this property for 6 nights and I would go back. Room was clean, a/c was almost too cold, but overall nice sized room and while the carpeting and furnishings look late 80s and the hallways on the floors are worn, I was able to get past that. Staff were all helpful, pool is a great size for a downtown hotel, gym is one of the largest I've ever used, in-room free Internet was a little slow but was ok, multiple on-site restaurants where we had dinner, cafe and nice gift shop. Area is strictly commercial, but Metra is across the street as is a substantial food court, Rite Aid, etc. if you want to avoid gift shop's $2 waters and sodas as we did. Downtown area is typical of most cities with vagrants and homeless around, but none were hostile. Area is definitely coming back too with all the commercial development, but there are blocks with a lot of still boarded up store fronts.

Not recommended
By Valerie, 8/16/07
This hotel is definitely not worth the price. The hotel appears to be quite luxurious based on the website photos. However, the rooms are not well insulated. Everything that takes place in the hall and neighboring rooms can be heard. Also, the rooms are small and not particularly clean. Be prepared to wait at least 20 minutes to retrieve your car from valet parking. Finally, the City Grill restaurant is extremely expensive for the quality of food served.

Not worth the price
By Leslie C, 8/2/07
When you enter the hotel you are welcomed to a nice lobby, pretty modern with nice staff. However when we stepped into our hotel room we were shocked at the 80's style furniture (white plastic with gold trimming). I felt like the Best Western was looking at better that the stained sheets, which were so bleached they were stiff. The wall had this line that look like asbestos was coming out of the wall. The free internet was very slow as well. The only positive that I can think of was the soap from Bath and Beyond.
