I wish we could have stayed at a Motel 6..LOL!!!
By Maint Tech.5, 4/27/10
You get what you pay for...I'll never stay here again. Hallways smell like bug spray, stairwells smell like mildew. We had to go to the local store to buy deodorizer and air fresheners for the room. No clocks, furniture were falling apart. Don't stay here or I'll have to say I told you so.

Do not stay here!!! Do not do it
By Partee Insurance, 5/24/09
Our room had mold everywhere, the sheets were dirty, and someone had written "willy" in some sort of milky white something on the way. Staff did not care - do not stay here!!!

Never again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/4/07
I was charged a higher rate than what I was quoted over the phone. The owner said it was a busy weekend and I could "take it or leave it". Since I was concerned with not finding another room...I took it. The room smelled funky. No coffee pot and no blow dryer. Also, the gardeners were using the leave blower right outside my window at 6:30 in the morning. Bad experience.

Decent & Affordable
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/21/07
Service and employees were helpful and kind. Location was 5 minutes from Cal Poly. The value for the money was half of other hotels in the area. The room and bedding was clean with no stains. New carpet was nice. Bathrooms are in need of a update old & tired, Clean but black mold can be seen under wallpaper that was comming up.

The bad reviews have it right
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/8/07
The hallway smells; the room smells; the maintenance is poor; the ironing board when it was delivered after a 2nd request and 12 hours after the first request, was absolutely deplorable it looked like the cover had not been changed in 30 years. I was apprehensive prior to arrival after reading the other reviews, but did not express that apprehension to my family. The comments so far are those of my kids. Here's my comment: Management is mismanaging their property. Do yourself a favor. Book a room across the street where they leave the light on for you. Doing so is a huge step up in quality and comfort.

Decent, and affordable
By Mark, 2/7/07
I stayed there for six weeks while working an outage at Diablo Canyon. It wasn't the most modern, up to date place I've ever stayed, but it was great for what it was. The room was always clean, fresh towels and sheets, fridge and microwave in the room, cable TV that worked, friendly staff. They had great weekly rates for the outage people. Two thumbs up.

Awful, filthy, horrible, wretched
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/2/06
Simply the worst motel I have ever set foot in. Upon entering the musty room, I noticed dirty carpet, and stained bedspreads. I removed the bedspreads before my children sat on them, but to my horror, even the blankets had, uh, 'exudate' and stains on them. We completely stripped the beds to prevent contact from other occupants body fluids. We nearly walked out and drove hours home right then and there. Stuck on a holiday weekend with plans the next day, we thought it could not get worse, but it did. We slept under the white sheets only because those were clean and smelled of bleach. The bathroom was bad too. No stopper in the sink. Missing tiles with moldy grout EVERYWHERE. Oh- and don't forget NO SHOWER NOZZEL, water squirted out of the pipe. Don't even dare try to flush anything other than urine in the toilet. Just don't. We kept smelling smoke in our non smoking room. Apparently the room above us was a smoking room, because the guest above our ground floor room was smoking and dropping still burning cigarette butts down in front of our door. Smoke was drifting under our door from the smoldering butts dropped there from upstairs. Don't bother complaining. Apparently the front desk has heard it all before. They don't ask how your stay was, they already know and don't care. We even paid a holiday rate of over $100 for that dump. We had difficulty sleeping with all the filth in that room and imagining all the. Just don't stay there. It is not worth a single dime. A truely horrible experience. Even my children were scared to be in such an aweful place

Great deal!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/6/06
Very clean spacious room and suitable for a low cost place to stay. Bring earplugs because sound tends to travel through the walls. Great diner next door, Margie's.

After my son booked the room for the New Year's weekend, I went on line and checked its rating. After reading the first and only review I was expecting it to be one step above a downtown flophouse. I was much relieved to find the facility clean and well-maintained. The carpets in the room and in the hallways looked new (stain free, with a new carpet scent). The furniture in our room was new, the mattress was fairly comfortable (as someone who travels a lot, only my own bed is truly comfortable). The only sign that the motel is of the 1960's vintage is the bathtub. It had several large chips revealing its castiron interior. The room was promptly cleaned each morning. But I was surprised to hear a floor cleaner in the hall about 7:15 one morning. The Rose Garden Inn used to be a Howard Johnson Motel. The former Howard Johnson restaurant next door is now Margie's Diner. I recommend Margie's Diner for those who like enormous portions of hearty food cooked in a simple manner.
