Bring a LOT of Money
By Larry D., 1/28/12
First let me say the staff at the San Diego Marriott Marquis & Marina was top notch. Fantastic service. The view from my room on the 20th floor was breathtaking. The room was nice with a comfortable king bed. The shower was great with thick towels. Now, what I didn't like was: 1. They charge $12.00 a day for internet. 2. No microwave in the room. Had a fridge, no microwave. That bugged me. 3. Too few elevators. In the evening, a line stretched throughout the lobby waiting to board one. 4. $4.00 bucks for a can of soda is outrageous. 5. If you love to walk and are able to, plenty of places to see and dine in the gaslight whatever. But it isn't a cake walk. LONG & painful hike for yours truly. 6. Sure, cabs are available. Bring tons of cash. 7. Room service is available. I ordered some angle hair pasta with chicken. $65.00 bucks for that plate of food and it sucked. 8. There's a Starbucks in the lobby. A coffee and muffin was $10.00. (I guess they're really proud of their muffins). 9. No History Channel. In fact, very limited choices on the TV. I was booked here for a conference at the convention center next door. I guess I'm not the "4 Star" hotel kind of guy. I prefer a Holiday Inn Express or a Clarion. And I don't apologize for that.

Will definitely return!
By Zaynaf Salaymang, 12/1/11
There is nothing to complain about regarding this amazing hotel. Location is within close proximity to everything; airport, marina, Gaslamp, convention center. We had an exquisite view of the marina and everytime we stepped out onto the balcony we felt like we were in our own little world....extremely calm and quiet. I do wish there was free wifi as there is a convention center literally next door, you'd expect a good amount of business travelers staying here. Rooms and restrooms were renovated immaculately, with no complaints. Overall a pleasant stay....would return in a heartbeat if I ever come back to beautiful San Diego!

Didn't Sleep a Wink
By sarah, 11/23/11
We were in the north tower on the 25th floor and the glass on the sliding glass door was way too thin --- we heard the trolley EVERY time it went by, as well as any other city noises (I have stayed at hotels in big cities before, and double or triple plated glass prevented the noise from being an issue). Did not sleep a wink! To top it off, any time you tried to use hot water, it made a noise like a police siren (we had our dog with us - he cried the entire time I was in the shower because of the noise). Staff was very friendly, but question construction of hotel - you don't expect what we experienced from t

Excellent Service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/11/11
During the 8 hour power black out, management and staff provided service beyond my expectations. Within 30 minutes, they set up grills by the pool to feed the masses, kept everyone as informed as possible, and provided calm, smiling faces while they directed and assisted the guests. They served dinner to over 3000 people continuosuly from 4:30 to 10:30pm. What could have been a miserable experience was avoided by the excellent emergency response and constant attention to detail. (The obviously well-maintained generator was a HUGE plus and prevented panic).

LookN at the Dock of the Bay
By Phillip, 8/4/10
First time I stayed here wiht my family. What a wonder view, it was amzing from the 22 nd floor. We had a balcony and could see, Coronado, Island, Bridge, Hotel Del Coronado, AFB, and the view of water and marina overlooking the bridge. The p0ol was well heated, jacuzzi excellent, landscape was amazing, waterfalls, pools, tropical vegetation, and the lighting. Had the food in the hotel and it was a good breakfast, omelete bar. Got a package on parking and a food allowance. Close to Gaslamp, padre stadium, Omni Hotel you should eat at McCormick and Schmicks. Had an amazing time. Family loved their rooms, beds, comfiness was outstanding

WONDERFUL
By Debra, 6/16/10
iI had wonderful service from the time that I stepped off of the airplane. When I got to to hotel it was wonderful the service was great, everyone there was willing to help you in anyway. The view from the 21st floor I can't find the world to tell about the view, the hotel had great shops and you were in walking distance of all kinds of othe shops. Each morning was a joy to wakeup to.

Not bad!
By j., 5/26/10
The hotel was good, great views & the location was awesome! In our opinion we payed too much for breakfast, parking and they don't even have free wifi. The operator that made our reservation messed up first and last name and tod us there was no pet fee when actually it's a 75$ pet deposit! But like I said overall not too bad!

Excellent hotel, stayed there many times
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/15/10
I've stayed both on business (alone) & on holiday (wife & 2 kids) on many occasions. always found the hotel clean, staff helpful, food fine, pool was NOT dirty - or unduly noisy. Agree that the Star*ucks is often crowded a.m. & p.m. -- but don't care for that coffee anyway! Rooms are fine, bed firm & new linen this past year. Shower was weak - but that seems to be par for the course in SoCal, water conservation?? Hotel location IS excellent, go for high floors with bay view. Hertz desk in-house, business centre is OK, trains are NOT an issue - just the occasional Pacific Coaster going through - which I guess IS more noisy on the city-view side (hence go for Bay view!). Car parking IS my issue with this hotel - peak season & you cannot self-park - no space! Valet park goes - but costs! All in all - I think this is one of the best SD hotel if your looking for a routine hotel...there are plenty more "boutique" hetels in SD, but I like easy access, business support, familar hotel layout - and competitive pricing. Last visited Oct. 2009 - and stayed ca. 10x's this past 5yrs.
