this place is just beautiful to be in , the view is spectacular, the rooms are super clean & nice furniture, love the room service, excellent service with the employess-quick & nice to matter what! love this place always& had recommend it to friends& they went also. did live in San Diego,CA & moved, but, I won't forget this gorgeous hotel & Marina, nice tours also in San Diego! love this place!

I've stayed both on business (alone) & on holiday (wife & 2 kids) on many occasions. always found the hotel clean, staff helpful, food fine, pool was NOT dirty - or unduly noisy. Agree that the Star*ucks is often crowded a.m. & p.m. -- but don't care for that coffee anyway! Rooms are fine, bed firm & new linen this past year. Shower was weak - but that seems to be par for the course in SoCal, water conservation?? Hotel location IS excellent, go for high floors with bay view. Hertz desk in-house, business centre is OK, trains are NOT an issue - just the occasional Pacific Coaster going through - which I guess IS more noisy on the city-view side (hence go for Bay view!). Car parking IS my issue with this hotel - peak season & you cannot self-park - no space! Valet park goes - but costs! All in all - I think this is one of the best SD hotel if your looking for a routine hotel...there are plenty more "boutique" hetels in SD, but I like easy access, business support, familar hotel layout - and competitive pricing. Last visited Oct. 2009 - and stayed ca. 10x's this past 5yrs.

We like the location and the staff has been friendly and helpful. A employee at the bar told us about a place in the gaslamp to eat since their kitchen was closed & even warned us about the high priced bike taxis. The next day the valet guy gave us directions to places to shop. Even when we checked and they got the room wrong when we stepped inside, the guy carrying our bags called the front desk, got us the correct room on a better floor and even ran back up to give us the new room cards. Excellent service. Wasn't really anything we didnt like except the room was kinda small, the bed is FIRM and yeah the TV is kinda old but we didnt stay here to watch tv and stay in the room, we came here for San Diego!

I had a Friday night flight canceled so I was forced to book a room for the night. I had never stayed at the San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina because previous business trips I’ve always stayed in Old Town but it was a nice surprise. I had a high floor overlooking the bay and the pool. I was not able to get my checked luggage back from my canceled flight so I did not have the opportunity to enjoy the gym or the pool but they looked great. The location is great because you are down town, next to the convention center and next to the baseball stadium so you have plenty to do if you stay here. Next time I’m staying here for a few nights so I can take advantage of the location.

Our room was gorgeous! Everything was wonderful. The sliding glass doors opening onto the balcony and the bay was the best feature. Great location, easy to get to everything. Should offer free in-room internet, but that was the only suggestion we had. Absolutely beautiful!

Well worth the money.I had a wonderful room with a great balcony view. Room service was great! The bed awesome! I will be doing it again in about two months..........

I have a boat at the Marina and when family or friends come to San Diego, I always recommend this Marriot. Cant beat the location, views are to die for and the staff is extremely helpful. I am here at least once a week and if I could, I would spend more time here. Walking distance to most of the places you would want to see in San Diego and short taxi to most others.

The staff was unfriendly. The pool stopped serving snacks after 6pm. You had to go upstairs to get take-out. Take out takes FOREVER. The hotel is very crowded. They offer Starbucks in the lobby, but it is so small and at least 10-15 in line at all times of the day. The best thing was the outdoor pool movie during the summer for the kids. You can watch the movie in the small pool....too cool!!!

Very small room. Musty smelling. Freaking trains all hours of the night... don't plan on much sleep... trains trains trains... location is very nice. Staff was nice and friendly...pool area attendants not friendly. Not enough chairs, dirty pool. That Koi pond was literally nasty... algae.. etc.. growing. Would probably not stay there again unless greatly reduced rate.

I travel to SD frequently for work and tried this one since I'm a Marriott Gold member - never again. Yes, the scenery is awesome anywhere in this area, but this hotel doesn't measure up to Marriott's own standards-filthy pool, poor service, poor room amenities (worn bed/linens, outdated furnishings, etc), sans the bar, this hotel is NOT worth it. I have, and will continue to stay at the Sheraton on Harbor Drive for all future visits. Hope this helps someone!
