very very poor customer service
By ,
At check in and during stay the front desk staff and management very unfriendly, were not helpful and lacked the social graces to be customer focused. Cannot think of even one interaction that was helpful or friendly. Rooms backing onto the Cal train are noisy and crowded. Have stayed in other Sheraton hotels that were 5 star in comparison. At check in they gave a confirmed room away because of over booking and were unapologetic for the inconvenience. A real shame given the potential for this hotel in a prime location. Management and staff should be inspected by Sheraton Corporate for their dismal service.

NOT WORTH IT!!!
By ,
Location is great but other than that it is a real sad place to stay in. Over priced and the staff is not helpful at all. I had lunch one day and my food took about 30 minutes and when I got it, it was cold when I asked for the manager (I believe her name is Ana) she was no where to be found. WHAT A SHAME. I don't recommend this hotel at all

Disappointed
My mother and I spent 1 night at the Sheraton Palo Alto and were very disappointed. We each had our own room. My room was a preferred room which was a exactly the same as my mothers room and she did not have a preferred room. . Our rooms were very dirty. If you pull your bedding back and look at the bed skirt it was covered in dust. The coffee pot was covered in dust. The bathroom toilet was not flushed and the tissue box cover was hanging. It was truly a lack of the cleaning departments inspectors not doing there job to insure the room was cleaned. My second complaint was the noise level. At 10:00pm I contaced the front desk to ask what time the party would be over. I was advised that there were two wedding parties and that the music would go until 12:00 midnight since they paid for it. I told the lady at the front desk that I also paid for a room and that they needed to advise people that they were completely booked with weddings as I would have change to another hotel. That was the end of the conversation with this uncaring front desk person. So, at 10:30pm I called back and ask to speak to a manager on duty. I was told by this person that the party was over at 11:00pm and that she would tell the DJ to turn down the bass as it was making my room literally shake. They did tell me that I could move to another room but it would still have noise. I was able to get to sleep around 2:00am. After driving all day to pick my son up at a camp at Stanford University the next day, I was very upset with such little sleep since I had to be up at 6:30am. Whn we checked out my mother said to the front desk clerk how noisy it was with kids running up and down the hallway at 3:00am in the morning and believe it or not, the front deck clerk never even responded. It would have been nice if she had said something like, I'm sorry to hear that you were unhappy. I'll be back to Stanford in September for a cross country running event with my son's team and will NOT recommend this place to anyone. Absolutely, NOT worth the cost. I had read the reviews and thought I would give this place a chance. So people beware, it's a dump and not ran with good management.

Terrible venue for events
By ,
Yes it is near Palo Alto, but they CHARGE YOU FOR PARKING?! It is about $10/day. Then the place is pretty old...staff seems to avoid having to talk to you. Smiling would really not kill anyone there (maybe because they charge staff parking fees too?)

WONT BE BACK
By ,
They were remodeling and the smell was Horrible. The rooms were Very expensive considering the condition of the Hotel. The only good thing about the hotel was the location. My father is having suergery at stanford and they live in Discovery Bay, CA. We wont be back for the operation.

Gorgeous setting, fantastic staff
By ,
I stayed there on a business trip in October in which everything went wrong —except this gorgeous hotel. My cell phone broke, my friend from San Jose got sick and could not meet me to celebrate my birthday and I discovered 30 minutes before my meeting that my suit had been shrunken by my NYC cleaners. But the hotel and its staff were so friendly and wonderful that I had a great time anyway. It is so gorgeous with the natural beauty of PA, the koi pond, etc. You really feel as if you are in your own little Eden. And when my husband called to wish me happy birthday I was out, but because he mentioned to a staff member that it was my birthday the manager sent up a quite nice bottle of wine and a card— a very nice touch! I can't wait to stay there again.

not as expected
By ,
The staff was not very friendly and we were unfortunately stuck with a view of the parking lot and headlights. There are only a handful of good rooms that have nice views and you will want to make sure you request them. It will be worth paying an additional $20 or so, which of course is no big deal. The operations manager said the hotel was booked and that we could not switch to a better room. It was quite disappointing. Looking back, I don't think I would stay here again unless I absolutely had to.

Dogs galore!
By ,
Old hotel - not the usual Sheraton standard. They allow dogs -- mentioned in their "Features/Activities" section on their webpage - but not highlighted as it should be. The dogs are not limited to any specific floor or rooms apparently. As a result, room was clean on the surface, but there was dog hair on the chairs, and the corridors and elevators smelled. Obviously not recommended for people who are allergic to dogs shedding.

I had a bad experience at the Sheraton Palo Alto! The Hotel is old, room is dark but the rate is very high! Food in the restaurant is Ok but the service is very slow! Staff is not friendly. They do charged parking.
