89/night for a dorm room... do not recommend at all.
Comparing prices to other hotels, they are more expensive. Since we weren't sure if the Broadwalk area is good or not (it wasnt a good area), we decided to go a little further and pay a little more.
Day 1, the screw up out reservation. They thought we need a wheelchair access room but we didn't. So the front desk gave us a different room. Day 2 I get a call from the front desk. They didn't have us in the computer for that room. No problem, they updated their info and we are ok. Day 3, I get a call at 10:15pm asking if we can switch to another room. Apparently they want to use our room as a play pen for kids for another group who made reservation. Well I told them we were leaving the next day and the front desk said Ok then no problem.
Day 4, day of check out... we got a call at 7:30 in the morning. We ignored it. Half hour later, we get a knock on the door. We were still half asleep. I guess we took too long to open the door, our door burst open. It was the UC Inn maintenance people...not the front desk, not housekeeping...The Maintenance people telling us we need to call the front desk and that there is a problem. The guy was rude and claimed that he works for the inn simply because he was wearing a UC Santa Cruz cap. Well if I have a FBI cap does that mean that I work for the FBI? He wasn't wearing a name tag. We called the front desk. Apparently they were told that we agreed to check out at 7:00. This hotel really needs to get their acts together. We told the guy at the front desk that we were checking out today but never agree to a time so he said he'll call back. 10 minutes later, maintenance guy opens the door again. We called the front desk again telling them this guy is still busting down our door. The maintenance guy leaves. 15 minutes later, one of the inn managers knocked on the door asking us if we check out within the hour he'll knock 50% off our bill. We agreed to it. When we got to the front desk, they only knock off 50% for the last night. The manager that made the deal of course was nowhere to be found. This is the worst inn ever...for 89/night, I rather pay a little more to go to Ramada or Hilton... UC Inn's beds were uncomfortable. You can hear the pipes every time someone flushes...you can hear everything on the outside...Basically, you are paying 89/night for a dorm room. We didnt get much sleep during our 3 nights stay. So unless you are Alumni to the university...don't stay there.
