VERY BAD EXPERIENCE

since the receptionist rose from her seat and raised her voice saying " Go ahead and tell expedia about that you are unhappy with your stay here" i decided to share it here as well. The receptionists was so incredible rude, and kept raising her voice at my fiance. we paid for 4 nights. For some reason they do not offer house keeping every day. When we called them asking for house keeping and fresh towels she kept asking " why do you need house keeping? why is it so messy?" and she wanted to know becuase she was "curious".. anyway she was so incredible rude, and i was so upset that i didnt not want to stay any longer and checked out early and went to another hotel. This is just the service. The room we had smelled so awful the carpets were filthy, the toilet seat's paint was chipped everywhere, the showers were grimy, you can hear the traffic from your room.

Avoid this one despite the promotional $49

This is to report on our stay at Hillsdale Inn, San Mateo, CA 94403, on June 9 to June 12. Quality of accommodations was not acceptable. Clock and coffee maker not working, AC and heater not available, neither TV remote worked, wireless internet not available, continental breakfast only on weekends (consisted of coffee and muffin), lobby often unstaffed, scheduled opening at 7:30 but clerk arrived after 8:00 AM. Clerk would not provide statement at checkout, said “it is available online at Expedia”. Also, heavy construction across the busy street, piling pounder starts at 7:30 AM. To use phone, deposit cash $20, for second key, deposit cash $5. Staff and the regulars appear more interested in the adjacent Sportsman's Bar than in providing service to travelers.

Bad experience

I had a very bad experience with Hillsdale Inn. I made the room reservation for myself for four nights through Expedia, and paid for the four nights upfront. I was so busy that I did not actually get there to check in on the first day. On the second day, I called the hotel saying that I was coming to check in. They told me that since I did not show up on the first day, they already let somebody else to use my room, and thus the room was not available to me any more. I feel bad because I paid for the room for four nights but they sold the room to another person for the rest of the three nights. And they made twice as much money from one room. When I booked the room through Expedia, nobody told me that I had to show up on the first day. I assumed that since I paid for the four nights upfront, they had this obligation to hold the room for me. I finally talked to an assistant manager at the hotel asking for any refund. She said no and it was OK that I posted this negative comment on this website. This is what I am doing here.

DIRT on all the walls, Furniture over 30 years old , dirty showers, dirt all over the carpets

In the " nicer rooms " , the mattresses are OVER twenty years old, the showers are filthy ..with grime, dirt and mildew, the comforters are THREADBARE, the carpets are OVER fifteen years old, and the floors of the bathroom are flooded after a shower !!!!!! In the " standard rooms " , dirt, dirt, dirt , dirt ALL OVER the carpet, chairs and desks that are OVER thirty five years old and ready to fall apart at a moments notice, LARGE spit balls on the ceiling, spiderwebs everywhere, televisions OVER fifteen years old with twenty inch screens, torn up comforters, ripped up headboards, FILTHY showers. SKIP this place !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AVOID !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The only person that is nice here is the african american guy at the front desk. NO refunds !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sixty five a night !!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO receipts !!!!!!!!!!!!! SLUM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SHACK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exactly was i needed

I just flew in to SFO, and i booked this hotel thru Hotwire, i needed something close to the airport, and the city, but not in the city, and this hotel had what i needed, VERY close to the airport, like an 8 minute drive, close to Half moon bay, and the golden gate- and the price was right. Over all i got a clean quiet room, in a good area- which is hard to find in the bay area! ill be back here next year when my cousin graduates from SF state.

Find another last resort

Horrible. The rooms are moderately clean but the beds & bedding are disgusting. The only customer service is in the dive bar but you're likely to take some kind of gruff from 1 of the "regulars" who has probably been overserved everyday for the past 15 years. The good news is that he or she will go home & take a nap before they come back to get wasted again before closing time. There is only 1 iron/ironing board in the entire hotel & you have to leave a $20 deposit to use it. Wireless internet access is only available near the lobby/bar/pool. There is another, stronger network that you can pick up in your room but they won't give you the password. Their continental breakfast is bad coffee & a questionable bowl of fruit. Should you try to complain, the staff will just complain to you about the number of complaints they receive & then tell you that the out-of-town ownership doesn't care. If you're still now swayed, do not book thru Expedia. The best Expedia rate is $20 more than if you just call them. Oh yeah, they don't staff overnight. Whichever girl is working the front desk will close up around 11 PM & the office will not open until 7 AM.
