DISAPPOINTING
By LEEM, 02/17/09
Nice location. Third floor, walk up from second and drag your luggage. Room had a fireplace next to a bed so you could not see it, really stupid layout. Outside is inviting looking but rooms we saw, including ours were plain and unattractive. Clean, but almost all the towels we received were fraid or torn. Staff does not seem to care, they lack any charm or helpfulness. Room also very noisy. Marriott pricing and Motel 6 quality. Well maybe Holiday Inn, at best.

Probably won't return.
By twinkletoes, 09/02/08
I have mixed feelings about this "boutique" hotel. My friend made the reservations and at that time she was informed that our party of 4 which reserved 2 rooms would be on the same floor. She was told one room would have a garden view and the other with a patio w/table and chairs. Both were to be the same size. WRONG....our friends got a room on the third floor which was tiny, the garden view??? nope it was a view of the building next door which was about 2 feet away. Our room thankfully was HUGE a sunken bedroom with NO dresser, I had to pull the ironing board out of the tiny armoire to stack our clothes on. We had no view either as the windows were high above the bed, well at least we could see the sky. The air conditioner sounded like a tractor and the t.v. was so far away from the bed we practically needed binoculars to see it, but I must add the the bed and bedding were sumptous. They also get kudos on the nice bathroom with rainshower, I'm just thankful we didn't get the room our friends got which was so small it barely allowed two persons to walk around in, and was located on the third floor (elevator only went to the 2nd floor) so they had to walk up a flight of stairs and then kind of a maze. Their t.v. didn't face the bed and had to be viewed from the wing chairs, it had a nice but very small bathroom. The "continental" breakfast consisted of some juices, hardboiled eggs, mediocre danish, frozen Eggo's, yogurt and coffee. Lukily we discovered a local cafe about 2 blocks away with the most awesom belgium waffles!

Cozy & wonderful
By travelers, 07/07/08
We loved staying at the Wine Valley Inn 3 different times.Late 2007-2008. Seth at the desk is "The Best!" Very helpful and nice. So are the others. Room was so pretty with a nice fireplace and all necessities. Linens were all newish, Breakfast was good in the big room with silverware & cloth napkins etc... Very close to everything in town and that's a big plus! Wish there was a pool though. Keep in mind that many of these reviews were written BEFORE they updated the Inn. It's very pleasant place to stay. It does have thin walls though, but no problem. We slept well. WE'LL BE BACK!!!

Great Place
By Lisa T, 06/02/08
We loved this place! Our families all met here for spring break and we just loved the origionality of the place. Each room seemed different and since they just redid them they down comforters on the beds, beautiful stone showers with rainfall showerheads, and antiques in each room. It had this great new meets old style. The grounds were beautiful. The place is right in town. My sister is pregnant and their room was way upstairs so they upgraded her for free. The staff was super welcoming and their breakfast was perfect to get the day started. There isn't a pool so if that's a major concern then this is not the place, but besides that it was ideal for all our families. We really felt like we were staying in luxury at an affordable price. We can't wait to go back.

Great Place in Solvang!! A++++
By Dee, 05/02/08
We just enjoyed 3 days at the Wine Valley Inn, and would definitely stay again! the staff was very courteous and accommodating, they even gave us a bottle of wine, and upgraded our room, which was perfect. Felt like we were in a cabin in Big Bear, nice bed, so comfy, we just wanted to stay in bed... very comfortable, nice flat screen tv, modern bathroom, and peaceful location, walking distance to all in Solvang. Hotel did not have a pool or jacuzzi, but we were able to use the pool at the sister hotel, they have a beautiful koi pond though. They also had free internet connection!! We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone, we would especially like to thank Seth for all he did and the manager, they were very professional and courteous. Everything was perfect!! Cant wait to go back... THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Great Location, costumer attention bad.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/29/08
My husband and I went there with a lot a enthusiasm. We saw the comercial of hotels. com and thought we were going to be treated that way ....wrong....When we got there the attention of the front desk man was horrible. He acted as if he was doing us a favor. He did not give us any information about the surroundings or tours, when I called the front desk to give me some information about a nice place to have dinner he told me the name put no driving directions and hung up, I had to call again so he could tell me where that place was. The location of the hotel was great our night stay was good, the rooms ara a little bit small but most of the time you are out sightseeing so that didn't matter too much.

enjoyable stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/19/08
We enjoyed our stay at the Wine Valley Inn. The location is quiet, but easy to walk to anything in Solvang, and an easy drive to the local wineries. The decor was charming and our room was very pleasantly decorated. The continental breakfast was nice, presented in their breakfast room. The beds were very comfortable and the pillows were fluffy(so many places have thin, pancake pillows). They have tables and chairs throughout the grounds for relaxing with coffee or a glass of wine. Our only complaint was the thin walls. You could hear other peoples conversations, TV, footsteps, drawers opening and closing. Had to have the fan on at night to distract me.

We can't wait to go back!
By Liz, 11/22/07
We loved the Wine Valley Inn and would definitely stay there again. We stayed in two different types of room: one night in a tower loft jr. suite and one night in the largest of the garden cottages. Both rooms were roomy and clean, with comfortable beds and kitchenette. The loft had a nice, large flat screen TV in the bedroom. The only thing we found fault with this room was that the bathroom was downstairs (the bed was upstairs). The cottage, on the other hand, was perfect. We upgraded for the night to celebrate a special occasion, and we were very pleasantly surprised to find that we had our own little quiet cottage complete with waterfall and koi pond out front and private, two-person jacuzzi out back. It also featured two fireplaces (one upstairs in the bedroom) with firewood, one-and-a-half baths, 2 TVs, beautiful appointments, woodwork, and beautiful Narnia-inspired hand painted tilework. This hotel also features a close proximity to the town, free internet, free breakfast, and a helpful staff. All in all, this hotel exceeded its 3 diamond AAA rating and was a great value for the money. We would definitely stay here again. When reading reviews, look at the responses of the majority. Most people love this hotel. Don't be swayed by one or two people that had a bad experience.

never going back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/19/07
the rooms were nothing like the web sit - do not be decieved - very dated, very noisy and the staff did not seem to care when we raised the issues with them - i would rather have stayed at the holiday inn express which is just as close and i am sure much cleaner

romantic getaway
By barbaraa, 08/25/07
this hotel is incredible. the cottages are like a home away from home but cozier...the grounds are breathtaking. I have stayed there twice once in cabin 5 and once in cabin 3, both experiences were out of this world. I have stayed in many hotels and inns, this one is definitely one of the most satisfying....the staff is great, the location ideal, what more can I say!!!
