Cute tiki motel, nothing fancy
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/18/07
We stayed two nights in this hotel in October 2007 for a wedding. I was in a double room with my two small children and several friends were in other rooms. The rooms are really attractive and have been rehabbed to a nice standard, especially the pillow-top beds. I admire the way the owners have taken this 60s motel property and rehabbed it into a cute Polynesian themed motel. The staff was very nice and everything was immaculately clean, I don't know what those other reviewers were talking about. The pool is nice though not as huge as advertised. There was a little restaurant/bar so you could have drinks next to the pool, not fancy. Unfortunately no place there to have breakfast. This motel is located on a strip of budget motels a bit outside of downtown Palm Springs. It only takes maybe 5 minutes to drive downtown and there are nice restaurants nearby, though not really walking distance. I think some of the dissatisfaction with this property is that the website seems to advertise it as a small boutique hotel, when it is really just a nice motel with rooms in a horseshoe shape around parking and a pool in the middle. When we were there, there were no other children around, mostly adults rubbing up against each other in the pool or drinking beer. Lots of people with tattoos. The sparkling clean pool was nicely warm though the spa could have been hotter it was only tepid. There were coffee makers in the rooms and free coffee and tea in the lobby in the morning. IMy friends who were couples liked the size and appointments of their rooms and thought they were a good value. Our double room was not spacious but big enough. I got charged a "resort fee" which was ridiculous because this place is not a resort. Annoying. Except for that, I would stay here again.
