Perfect for Hollywood Bowl attendees
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/15/07
If you want a nice, clean place to stay after attending a late concert at the Hollywood Bowl - this is the place! Just a short distance down the freeway from the LA Zoo, where you can park for free and take the shuttle into the Bowl. We thought this hotel was perfect for the location and the price. Old style architecture, quaint Asian theme - comfortable beds and the thoughtful touch of having an extra pillow and blanket in the dresser was great. We had a fridge and microwave in our room, which, although on the street side, was amazingly quiet. Parking could be a problem, as it seemed limited, but again, we had no trouble finding a space when we returned from HB at 11:30 pm. The staff seemed a bit reserved, but polite. The breakfast was incredible for a 'breakfast included' hotel. Eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, french toast, muffins, etc, etc. Lovely! We would definitely stay here again - and recommend it to anyone traveling in the area. Great job!

It's "The" place to stay in LA
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/29/05
The Mikado is the best value in LA. Service, food, decor, convenient parking and huge rooms. It's the only place we stay in LA.

Excellent value
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/21/05
I've no idea what buffed2 means in his/her review. The only cheaper places nearby are a grungy Days Inn and seedy "love motels" that rent by the hour. All other hotels in the area are significantly more expensive. This is a quiet place (though on a main street), well maintained, with a pleasant Japanese garden in the central courtyard, and an acceptable (though not great) Japanese restaurant on the premises. Convenient location (10-20 minutes) to the Universal, Warner, Disney & NBC Studios, Burbank Airport, and freeways to get around the greater LA area. As long as you can do without the luxury of the nearby Sheraton, Hilton or Marriott, this is one of the San Fernando Valley's best values.

They can do better.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/21/05
Great location off major freeways is the only good quality of this Hotel. Rooms, service and building were all avarage. Driving a 2 or 3 miles out of the way would find you a similar accomodation but much less in cost. My suggestion would be to make a left and go to Ventura Blvd. to find a better deal.
