Civic Center Motor Inn, San Francisco

The staff is clueless when it comes to customer service. Toilet flooded and drenched the carpet, ruining my belongings and forced to check out at 5:30am. The night clerk did nothing and could not even offer us a room to shower. His replacement wouldn't give us free quarters so I could do laundry and salvage my clothings and bag. The hotel is under construction and not worth the cheap rate.

I went here a week ago and checked out on arrival with my two children. We checked into Holiday Inn instead and got way better service there. I thought this place would be a good stay. The ad online was very deceiving and showed a picture that looked nothing like it in person. I was disapointed by the area and the fact that it was nowhere near downtown. I got horrible service when i showed up upon checking in and decided leave my bags and go Starbucks and talk on my cell and find a better place which ended up to be Holiday Inn. I went back to the Best Western and complained to the guy at the desk who was speechless and didnt utter a word but allowed me to checkout without any charge. I then called a cab and went to the Holiday Inn which was way better and had a transit stop right out front and a Starbucks next door. I would never reccomend this Best Western. It's more like Worst Western.

This hotel is not worthy of Best Western standards, and we are surprised that it is endorsed by Best Western....upon arrival and check-in we discovered that the parking area is VERY cramped and the rooms are not air-conditioned. The location leaves much to be desired as well...many homeless in the area and other less desireables. The manager would only cancel our three night reservations for the subsequent nights forcing us to stay in a sweltering room for one night with no adjustment to the room rate. We intend to find every travel website I can to warn other travelers to stay away from this hotel. We rebooked the remainder of our reserved nights in San Francisco at the Best Western Grosvenor Airport Hotel, so you can see, we are not anit-Best Western...just VERY DISAPPOINTED in the San Francisco Civic Center location.

Best Western Civic Center charges double the room rates for Gay Pride Weekend in June. Get room rates confirmed in writing even for advanced bookings because the management will not honor regular room rates without proof and rates will be higher than quoted. Parking is very limited.

I have been there for two nights with my wife. The room was clean but a little noisy. There is no AC but in Winter it wasn't matter for us. What I don't like is the surrounding area, We didn't feel safe when we went outside in the nights but I feel in any other big city in US, it would be same. The price includes Free Parking, free internet and a basic breakfast. So if you are looking for a Cheap Hotel to stay and don't care about surroundings then go ahead. Hope it helps to make your decision.

A little drive (5 mins) from the main attractions, but the free parking is rare in that area and therefore appreciated. The rooms were nice and clean but they had no air conditioning and were a bit small. But for the price - well worth it and I would definitly stay there again.
