La Quinta Inn & Suites San Diego Mission Bay, San Diego

I'm pretty simple - not looking for frills. NEGATIVE: immediate location isn't amazing(but the overall location is great - 5 minutes from the beach). No frills or fancy stuff; POSITIVE: Clean hotel, friendly staff, free hot breakfast, free wifi, adequate workout room, good hot tub, heated pool, . Simple but great.

WE STAYED THERE FOR THE WEEKEND. AND BEING TOURISTS THE LOCATION WAS PERFECT AND EASY. WE WERE NEXT TO THE BEACHES, FREEWAY, SEA WORLD, OLD TOWN, SHOPPING, DINNING!!! GREATLY RECOMMEND TO EVERYONE!!!

We booked our room online because it was close to SeaWorld and was economical. Then after reading some of the other online reviews we weren't sure what to expect. However, we were very pleasantly surprised! Friendly, courteous service at the front desk (as others had mentioned) - help with maps to area attractions, restaurants, etc. The beds we slept in were EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE. And there were 2 pillows per person - one SOFT, the other FIRM - a nice added touch. The result for us was undoubtedly the best night's sleep we've ever gotten at a hotel - period. The breakfast was more than adequate with good, healthy variety - and we didn't experience any crowdedness (although we were there relatively early). Overall, a great value for this family of four's one-night-stay.

As frequent guests at Holiday Inn Express we were stunned that Holiday Inn would have their name associated with a property like this. The parking is a nightmare; an underground structure that is open on both sides. Just walking from the car to the elevator was sketchy at best. The narrow street leading up to the hotel is trash littered with grafitti covered signs. There is an employment center behind the property which brings some "characters" near the location. The pool is on the ground floor, on the other side from the parking, and while we were there it was occupied by several people with a cooler full of beer. There was a garden hose going into the pool and the area around it was filthy. The stairwell in the hotel was disgusting, and all joking aside, smelled as if someone had died in it. The rooms were very small and not very up to date. They did, however, seem to be fairly clean. Despite that, I couldn't help but find myself wondering if something was going to crawl out from under the sheets. As previous reviews have metioned, the beds are awful. The express breakfast, which we typically love at the Holiday Inn Express, was less than expected. It was very crowded, there was a very limited selection and there was no "main dish" such as biscut and gravy, cheese omelettes of Mcmuffins etc. that travelers typically find at a HIE. Other than its proximity to Sea World and a nice staff I can find nothing good to say about this property. To sum it up, "It's a dump."

Not nearly as bad as I was prepared for. Granted it's in a questionable location, but at no time did I feel safety was an issue. The rooms were clean and adequate. If a hotel stay is part of your vacation experience, then pass this one by. If you're looking for a place to lay your head, it's fine.

After reading the reviews of this hotel, I was pretty much prepaired for a crummy hotel. I got this hotel from Hotwire, and although I requested a 3 star facility, this is more like a 2 star facility. So if you are thinking Hotwire gave you a great deal, it really isnt. Regular price is 120, and our hotwire deal was 83. Still stiff for what it is and where it is. THE GOOD- The rooms were clean. It's easy access to the highways. Pretty family friendly. Security guard on night duty that was super helpful. Had a handy directions sheet and map at the front desk. The microwave and fridge in the room were actually pretty nice if staying for a vacation. THE BAD- Bad location !!!! The breakfast is pretty minimal IF you can even get in to the breakfast area and IF there is anything left! The neighborhood is kinda scary. There is a day workers meeting place right behind the hotel, so you get guys (homeless and stragglers with a few exceptions) wandering around the outside of the hotel. Parking is a nightmare!!!! Vending machine and ice machine are located outside of the hotel, in the parking area.

If you are trying to stretch your vacation dollar, this hotel is good choice. The hotel offers free continental breakfast, internet connection and parking in a lit garage. The decor is what we expected in this class hotel and we felt safe since all the hotel rooms have an inside entrance. In comparison to a $300/night hotel I stayed in on this same vacation, these rooms and bathroom were actually larger!

We had a reservation to stay at this hotel. It is located in a very blighted area of town. We asked about guests' cars getting broken into and vandalized. They told us at the front desk that it was frequent but only if you parked on the street. We did not stay here. It was not a safe environment for guests or their cars.

The Hotel is located in a central area, great for quick travel to fun locations, but that's if you can sleep through the night. The hardest and most uncomfortable bed that I have ever slept on in my life! The service was great and the complimentary breakfast was also good but I cant get over the bed, I was very sore the next day.
