Home Away From Home

We stayed in the larger one bedroom suite that had a complete galley kitchen, nothing fancy, but it had everything that we needed in order to have food on hand, and to be able to cook meals when we didn't want to go out. The living room/dining area was quite large, and we greatly appreciated the ambience of the fireplace. Our unit had a sitting area just outside the living room's french doors, and the sunken hot tub was just a few steps beyond. The pool area was on the other side of the building, so our space was very quiet and somewhat secluded. The bathroom was adequate, nothing special. The bedroom was again, quite large, and the bed was most comfortable. The surrounding grounds are nicely landscaped, and it is off the main arterials, so walking around the grounds can be appreciated. Our greatest disappointment was the restaurant. Although the food was excellent, the service was extremely slow. More so, we were tortured by the excessive noise in the place. We were literally shouting at one another and still couldn't communicate. I ended up taking my meal back to the room to nibble on the following day. We found a very quiet little French cafe just down the street in a very ugly little strip mall for our subsequent dinner, and it was absolutely delicious as well as delightful. The hotel's rates are steep, however, it is wonderful to have the feeling of "home away from home" even if you have just a few days to spend in Phoenix. The standard rooms are very pretty, but they are on the small size. Their saving grace is that many open out onto the garden and pool area. I would make a return trip to this hotel, but I would definitely have to find a better deal through one of the search engines or a special promotion.
