Very Nice, Pets welcome
By ,
We stayed in a 1st fl room by the courtyard across from the pool (all pets get ground level rms). We took our 2 Toy Poodles(1 time $25 fee), a sliding door went to the patio so I could take them out when they needed to go potty. They also have a pet relief area where they can potty and grounds help will clean it up)Very convenient. The room was nicely decorated and bath had modern fixtures, X Lg, towels and Neutragena products. 42" plasma was a bonus.Beds were soft and linens upscale. The AC could have been cooler. We set it at 60 and fan on high, but it didn't get lower than 75 or so. The staff sent someone to look at it right away and followed thru w/ a phone message. It really did not improve, but we only had 1 more night to go so we didn't gripe. I booked this hotel on line and also joined Hilton Honors(its free). As a member you can order free stuff that will be in your room when you arrive. I had a terry robe (in the pocket was a shower cap and a sewing kit), extra cookies, and slippers. This hotel makes you feel very appreciated! The staff was very helpful and always spoke when they saw you outside, even let me know Reid Park was across the street if I need a place to take the dogs. They also have smoking rooms and I didn't have to feel like a leper and hide in the parking lot. I think this hotel was GREAT and would highly recommend it.

Nice Place to Stay - Don't Eat the Javelina
By ,
The Hotel was very nice and clean. The maidservice was prompt and tidy. The pool is picture perfect as well as the orange trees on the grounds. However, don't bother eating at the onsite Javelina Cantina - the service was terrible. We made that mistake more than once. Not only is most of the waitstaff rude and ignorant, we often had to wait 15 minutes to be waited on, and the food although decent, took 35-45 minutes to arrive. Don't wait for a refill on the drinks either, or you will wait all night. The second time we ate there, we went the full meal without silverware and napkins. Fortunately, there is another restuarant in the main building that is awesome.

Great Value and Location
By ,
This is a classic Tucson semi-resort place. We stayed a few weeks back and it was very clean and pleasant. The dining room was just as nice as ever, and the room was newly refurbished. We had called ahead to ask because it seems from the reviews that a couple of years back they were stil remodelling. Its great now, and close to everything. Best of all, the price was way less than the other nicer hotels we tried- even half as much in a couple of cases.

Will come back
By ,
We have stayed there in the past when attending the USTA National Championships in 1994, 2000, 2003, 2004,& 2005. We wanted to stay in a hotel in the Tucson area that we were familiar with for a short getaway. When I called the hotel, they said they were sold out for the dates we wanted. The reservation staff was able to work us in for our stay. Hats off to Sunny! The hotel has been upgrated and is one of the best hotels we have stayed in ANYWHERE. We will be coming back to Tucson and this is the ONLY place we will look to stay.

Cancelled my reservation!!!!!
By ,
Because some birthday party bunch decided to stay over - this @#%* hotel cancelled my 2 night reservation! I was hosting a large meeting there with over 40 people attending and this @#$!% hotel cancelled my reservation! Why didn't they say no to some of the stay-overs and let me stay where my meeting was? They offered no help, no directions, no referrals - nothing!! The meeting room was bad - dirty glasses, one pitcher of water for the whole day! Waste cans smelled like someone vomited in them. I'm complaining to DoubleTree corporate - will NEVER stay here again - I recommend no one else should either.

Extremely disappointed
By ,
I booked a night at this hotel through Priceline to extend my Tucson trip with my girlfriend for an extra night in December 2004. I had attended college in Tucson so I knew the city and the area. The area was adequate, across from Reid Park and near the busy business district along Broadway. When we checked in, we were sent to a room in the far corner of the hotel, even though the parking lot was not very crowded. When we opened the door, there was a cart of computer equipment blocking our way into the room. We drove back to the front desk (this property is rather big with a tower and two-story building). When we told the front desk about the cart, they called engineering to remove the cart and checked us in to another room near our original room. We settled into our second room and found there to be a dented, rusted small refrigerator in the room. The room was otherwise clean and adequate. However, when we went to leave, we could not lock our door. The lock was broken. When we returned to the hotel from dinner, we told the front desk that our room was not usable because the lock was broken and they were going to check us into another similar room. However, I indicated this was not acceptable and they decided to give us a room in the tower. I appreciated that offer and accepted. The room was usable. However, there were some mysterious dark stains on the comforter. There were also water stains on the ceiling. We decided that because it was late, we would bare with it. I have had great experiences in other Doubletree locations. However, I cannot recommend this property.

Wonderful stay!
By ,
The hotel is in a perfect location to all areas of the city, the room was very clean and the decor was much nicer than I expected for a 3 star hotel. We found a great deal, so it made the stay even better. I would definitely stay there again and remommend it to friends.

Great!
By ,
We got an excellent rate on Priceline which from the start made it a positive experience. The cookies at the desk and the nice big, clean room were great. The location is excellent- I highly recommend it.
