Terrible

Terrible hotel. The first room I got was in a building which felt like it had been originally been constructed as a very temporary military barracks, which in itself would not have bothered me too much. However, the carpet inside the room was old and dirty, and there were crumbs and bits of food in the corners of the room. When I returned to the room after eating at the [equally terrible and overpriced] restaurant across the street insects (probably cockroaches) had appeared, they were crawling in the bed and on the walls .... I complained and I was moved to a room in a concrete block bungalow, which normally cost more but they gave it to me at the price of the first room. This seemed a good solution until I entered the room and found food crumbs on the carpet (chips and sunflower seeds), a toilet seat covered in dried urine and a bar of soap and its wrapper stuck in the drain of the shower from the previous tenant. I complained about this also trying to get a discount, but the manager had left for the night and could not be reached by phone. What made it all worse was that they were charging me a completely disproportionate $59, and obviously taking advantage of the desolation of the area and its proximity to the Grand Canyon to slack on normal maintenance. No one would put up with that kind of service for such a price under ordinary circumstances. To be expected, I guess, but definitely very unpleasant. Stay in Flagstaff or make the effort to get somewhere else rather than stay here.
