If you actually want to sleep, don't go here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/04/08
It seemed okay when finally got a room but the walls were so thin in this"newly remodeled" "non smoking" hotel that i heard everything, especially the very young employees that were having a party in the room underneath me(123)3 or 4 guys in the room, loud music and cursing, not to mention all the smoke rolling out the window, and i know they were employees cause Ashley and Marley have waited on me and hit on my husband almost every nite this week. Cute but unprofessional. So from now on I'll go elsewhere.

Not reluctant in recommending
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/15/08
Great spot, friendly staff, good food, and that "evil deck..." Ask for harbor view. The mountain view is okay but you have to ignore the parking lot. The harbor is gorgeous. Full of a working fleet of salmon fishers. The Reluctant is centrally located and you can stumble home from The Anchor - so I was told! one bad apple can almost spoil the whole bunch.......
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/08/08
the hotel staff was friendly, helpfull, knowledgeable and made me feel right at home. the food in the restaurant was delicious from the appetizer to the desesrt. The view was fabulous from any table in the dining room , And had i not ended up with the same sassy, rude, UN-professional waitress every time i went in to eat dinner, i wouldn't even have take this time to write a review that management may never see, or act upon, on my way out the door. but everything was so good except the service, attitude and disrespect of the one "miss ashley" not only towards me but towards her co-workers, that i just feel compelled to speak out in hopes of management niping this problem in the bud, . As i would love to come back but will not eat drink or sleep here if i am not given the respect that i deserve. I watched every other employee fall over themselves for THEIR customers, why can't this girl even Pretend to try? I guess as an old man who doesn't have but one drink a night i don't deserve the customer service?

The View
By Ricky, 10/14/07
Well, I never stayed at the Reluctant but as I worked in Cordova during the Salmon season, I spent a few nights at the bar. The bartenders are friendly and if you get a chance ask them about their stories. Some of them are gypsies who travel all around Alaska and elsewhere, bartending and have some great tales. The view from the deck overlooking the harbor is amazing. Especially when the sun goes down.. its like a sea of yellow stars littering the harbor.

My return Visit
By mary, 04/09/07
After 35 years I returned to Cordova to revisit my childhood with my husband. The Reluctant Fisherman Inn helped with this visit. They were friendly and helpful and the food was great although a little spendie. The rooms were comfortable and reasonable as well. In fact I am coming back this May with the rest of my family.

Best Inn Town!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/03/06
Weird name, but fine place to stay. We had a "mountain view" room to save a few $$. The most expensive rooms have a harbor view, but so does the smoke free bar & restaurant and hotel lobby. World class deck feels like being right in the harbor. Best fish & chips ever. It is an older building that is being fixed up, and our room had a new comfy bed & linens. After camping in a damp tent, the strong hot water shower was heaven. Continental breakfast self serve in the lobby in the morning was an added treat. Cordova was a big surprise to us--a last minute trip detour that was the highlight of our month long Alaska trip. The new ferry across the Prince William Sound was awesome. Almost no tourists, friendly locals, great hikes, and we rate the Childs glacier #1 in Alaska. We will be back!

Best Inn Town!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/03/06
Weird name, but fine place to stay. We had a "mountain view" room, to save a little money. Our bedding was new and very comfortable. I loved the down comforter & big towel. The most expensive rooms have a harbor view, but so does the lobby, and the bar/restaurant. World class outside deck. Smoke free hotel and bar---best fish & chips ever. New owners are busy doing improvements and seemed pleased to hear about my sugestions. They are locals who used to be fishermen. Cordova was a big surprise as a destination--we tell everyone it was our favorite spot in our month long Alaska trip. Very few other tourists, and real friendly locals. I look forward to staying at the Reluctant Fisherman again, because I definitely will be back. The Alaska Marine Highway Fast Ferry was awesome!! Don't miss the Childs Glacier--we rate it #1 in Alaska.

Simply Awful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/25/06
Dirty. No service at times. No microwaves or fridges as promised. Overpriced. Good luck getting your room cleaned if you're staying more than one night. Food in restaurant was greasy and the wait was ridiculous.

DON"T DO IT!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/23/06
Not clean. Terrible service. Torn towels. Desk clerks unfriendly and too busy "entertaining" their friends in the lobby to answer questions. Don't even think about staying here. The view isn't worth it.
