Fun bar, excellent dinner, great views
By ,
What else can we say? Check in was great. The room was perfect for both of us. The bartender was funny, but the regulars there were even more entertaining! I'd head back there just to hang out each night. We had a ball! The dinner was excellent, and, yes, we slept in and missed the breakfast, so, no comment there. Really, about the only thing that I can come up with for improvement is get new tv's. Ours worked fine, and the HBO was nice, but I'd like the widescreen.

A great winter weekend
By ,
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Anchorage this past weekend. The Inlet Tower was clean, comfortable, and at a perfect location with a good value. The staff was nice, and the room was clean and comfortable. The TV's are not updated though, and that is about the only thing that we could think to recommend to change. The red headed bartender was great fun. We would definitely come back!

Please do not stay !

I would like to share my terrible story with Inlet Tower as I am hoping that there will be no more victims to be like me.... I booked the hotel on July 29th 2010. When we came in, Inlet Tower did not have a room for us, so they sent us to the different hotel, which was less graded.... but it was just a beginning of the nightmare... At that time, I was expecting the package to came in to but it turns out that they rejected my package for some reason, which they do not know why... (Maybe as my name was not under their system as they sent us to the different hotel) even I kept asking them to keep my package for three times... they just ignored it. So I revisit Inlet Tower Hotel and asked to send it back to Japan (my home town) by their cost, as it was obviously their fault. They once accepted their fault and promised me to send the package back to Japan. Three days later, what I found out today was, Inlet Tower charged me for the shipment fee to my credit card!!!!! So I called them. They said `Well, we have never ever rejected your package...that must be the shipment companies’ fault. The shipment company came into our hotel but they did not leave the package with us! So we are not responsible for your package. We had to charge you to get your package back to the hotel for $40. And now, we can send it back to Japan if you are willing to pay for it' What kind of hotel is that? Who believes that the shipment company drove all the way to Anchorage from Copper Center to deliver the package and decided not to leave the package with them? What kind of joke is that? They should have come up with the better story if they wanted to fool me... Now I asked the hotel to pay me back this $40 because if they want to charge the cost to somebody, the shipment company should be the one who they should talk to…not me! Let's see what will happen. I hope they still have a little bit of conscience… About my package.... I finally had to give it up.... and leave it with Inlet Tower… Let's see if they change their mind to accept their fault and repent what they have done, and take a responsibility. If it happens (which very unlikely to be happened....) I will let you all know. So I advise all of you who are considering to stay at Inlet Tower Hotel, please don’t!! Inlet Tower Hotel is not only they have really bad system management but they are trying to fool you.

Dirty, shabby, stinky. Don't believe pix on website
By ,
Moldy, dirty bathroom. freezing in room, ice coating inside the windows. View of porto-potties a plus. Sour industrial smell. Spunk stains on all 3 chairs. No pool. Not close to attractions. We left after they said we were stuck in that room. Ugh. Stay at Marriot, Hilton, or Sheraton properties instead. Motel 6 would be a better choice as well.

It is just an ok hotel.
By ,
well for starters only about half of the rooms provide air conditioning. They rely on the wind and fans that they provide. On a calm day the rooms would be ovens. There was black mold and paint seperating from the bathroom. There wasn't any ventilation installed (hotel was built in 1953). When we encountered the front desk they asked one bed or two.. isn't that the point of a reservation?? Also they ask upper or lower... I asked back what do you mean upper or lower, she proceded to say do you want an upper or a lower... Confused again reservation?? There were referencing the position in the building lower 7 floors or upper 7 floors. So back to the room... We were provided a two queen bedroom which would normally be fine but these rooms were built in 1953 and are not meant for two beds plus our newly required convienence tv. The cabinet the TV was in was too big for the space and was awkwardly in the middle of the room.. They do provide a microwave and small fridge. The kitchen area is very dated. The cabinets are metal and two of the drawers the front of the were falling off. The pillows were old and well used and very flat. The top blanket is a cheap thing that has the folds built in, so they don't even have to make the bed. This feature renders said blanket useless and ended up on the floor. The hallway outside of the room was dark and had a smell, not quite what the smell was. Now if a person were to look for a soda, candy and a bucket of ice. the basement for the candy, floor 4 for the soda and floor eight for the ice. None of those convienences are very convienent due to none of them being in the same location as the other. (the only snack machine is in the basement.) The slow dated elevator, which is understandable if original equipment, makes that trip even slower. Among the neat things in this hotel --has not 13th floor another indicator if its age, silly though cuz there is still a room 13 on floor 14 (13). --has a decent view of the bay, was probably a lot better when the hotel was built and trees were shorter(1953). Shoot for higher floors(9 or higher) for good views. This despite the fact that is pretty far in land. I would not recommend this hotel to other people. there are better hotels for the value..

I'd spend a few more to go elsewhere
By ,
I wouldn't believe the pictures on the website, this hotel is more dumpy than chic. The hotel lobby is very nice, comfortable couches but I'm afraid it ends there, the decor is very brown and drab. Rooms are much smaller and smell like smoke (in a none-smoking room) as do the corridors. One very nice positive is the windows have very nice shades to block the midnight sun, made for a decent sleep around the solstice. A word about the showers/tub...it's hard to get into and the consistency between cold/hot water is difficult to maintain. Believe me when I say this, if you are elderly or have kids, look elsewhere, you are likely to hurt something getting into the shower or scald yourself with hot water trying to maintain a warm shower. The shuttle drivers and bellmen are nice as could be. They'll take you to where you need to go if they aren't busy and the train station, airport, and downtown are usually no problem. The front desk is very pushy with checking out, after it was understood we were checking out at 1 PM, they called twice in 20 minutes asking if we were ready. The continental breakfast is not always complimentary, they don't advertise it but something you should nonetheless be aware. This hotel is not terrible, it's decent, but for tourists I'd suggest going downtown and spending a little more, believe me, if you've ever had that, I can't believe I've been duped, experience, you will feel that with this hotel.

Great stay !!Great restaurant!!
By ,
This is my point of view, with all respect and only reason to help to find what i did not find when looked for it at yahoo. Overall is 4 cause its an old building renovated, but it has a lot of details: old elevators, old carpets on floors halls, lobby could be more confortable, but to tell the truth...you wont waste your time at lobby. Value is excellent 63 $ plus 8% tax with breakfast is best invest, cause you wont get the traditional holiday inn, ramada or hampton breakfast, you'll get an 11 $ voucher each person, and you'll be surprised at "mick's at inlet", food excellent and waiters marvelous. Try black forest omelette!. Rooms a postal view from windows, refri, microwave, and sink are very helpful to save money (a supermarked is just a few steps), There's not air condition, and I'm sure you wonder:.. at alaska? yes room are very warm and windows dont open completely, so you'll find helpful the fan. Location 5 blocks from downtown, close by walk.. if you think on bus and taxis...dont even think you're not at NYC, hard to cach a bus. Service mmmm I lost my pijamas..housekeeper told me she saw at basement..wow my pijama is walking!! it never came back...must be it likes Alaska...too much...I hope you enjoy as my pijama is doing...in general hotel is great, room cost average(pijama is not included),the best:food, frontdesk: young people..not very helpful to solve problems but very kind..extra tip: they have free shuttle from and to airport every hour/24
