The hot springs are the main attraction here and are well worth the trip, but plan to stay elsewhere if at all possible. The rooms are substandard and dirty (even at almost $300 per night for the family!), the service is extremely poor and the food at the restaurant is horrible and expensive. I enjoyed the hot springs, but it's very clear that the management here is just out to take your money without providing even acceptable accomodations and service. The Taste of Alaska Lodge up the road seems more promising for an overnight stay, I've been told by many locals.

Its A place to get away
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/14/07
Not very clean, Not in a good location... But Nobody bothers you and its so relaxing. SO now i have to wring at least 25 words. this should be pretty easy. One time i ran over a squirrel and it got stuck in my engine and slowly burnt off of it after about 2 months. man, did that smell bad!

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/05/07
When we arrived our room was over 100 degrees, they turned it off somehow but the room was uncomfortable. The manager ignored us as if to shrug us away. totally rude.

It needs cleaning
By Cynthia, 05/28/07
Maybe I am just being pickey, but moss is everywhere in the in the hot springs. I understand that they want to keep it as natural as they can. To me it would have been nice to have had the moss brushed off with a brush so people could sit on them. It would not have taken away fron the minerals, just mixed them up a little. Then the inside pool, well for the price we paid there is no excuse for it to be so nasty and run down. There was wads of people's hair on the sides of the pool, and it just looked completely run down. For the 3 of us it cost us right at $50.00 to get in and we only stayed 2 hours tops. I would have liked to have seen the ice museum, but that would have been another $15.00. Since it was getting late and we were getting hungary we decided to head on back to Fairbanks.

Waste of time and money.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/28/05
In spite of what we were told, there were only two activities available - ATV rides, and horseback rides. The day we spent there, the person who runs horseback rides, was off. So after a 1/2 hour ATV ride which was fun, we spent the rest of the day reading books. The food was expensive and not very good. Management was disorganized and not responsive. They forgot to pick us up in Fairbanks, and when we arrived finally they couldn't locate our reservation, but luckily, I guess, we were one of the few guests there at the time, so they had room for us. This place is probably ok in the winter when you can see the northern lights, go dog sledding, etc., but I'd carefully consider going there at other times. For us it was a waste of money and valuable time. We only had a week to enjoy Alaska.

Terrible gave our reservation to someone else.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/08/04
We arrived from Washington State and the hot springs gave our reservation to someone else we believed they double booked. Didn't even bother to come and get us after they said to go to wait in the bar while they tried to find it. We had to follow up after waiting. We had our reservations booked a month ahead of time, and had all our information with us. They did offer us a cabin w/o water or bathroom and had to go out to use an outhouse. We are to old for that!! This was not acceptable to us so we ended up driving back to Fairbanks in hopes of finding a hotel.

When we arrived there was another family that was having problems that should of been the BIG RED FLAG to us as we were the next ones in line - totally disorganized and terrible customer service. Do not recommend!
