Worst hotel ever!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/04/06
The room was not clean. The toilet had not been cleaned and I had to clean it before we could use it. There was a kitchenette and the fridge smelled and needed to be defrosted. The dishes had been washed at some point and left on the drainboard. The dirty dishcloth was sitting on the sink, and there were spilled soy sauce packets in the silverware drawer. The lampshade was broken. The room was supposed to be a nonsmoking room, but there was an ashtray and the room had been smoked in. This triggered trouble for my husband's sinuses. We checked the smoke alarm and it didn't work and there was no battery. We didn't have washcloths or a carafe for the coffee maker. We asked for them and were told they would bring some up. After 2 hours my husband had to go get them. The room was outside of the regular part of the hotel, and the door into the hall of the hotel was locked at midnight. I felt that if we had an emergency, we would have been isolated from the rest of the rooms. Since we had requested a mountain view room, we requested a change, but they said they were full and would have to change the next day. So we had to hang around to change rooms and almost didn't catch the bus to the Mendenhall Glacier. We did change rooms, but you guessed it, we still didn't have 2 washcloths. We just gave up and didn't bother to ask for any.

Unhappy
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/26/05
I'd heard good things about the Breakwater, but I feel let down. The restaurant food was not very good and tended to be overpriced. My room was dirty when I got there, the bed was broken, and the cupboard handlss were falling off. The water in the shower was cold most of the time. The front desk personnel were very rude when I tried to get my money back for a day's stay. They said that all refunds came from corporate headquarteres and that they couldn't give it back to me. I am still waiting for my refund and it has been over a month. I feel the Breakwater has a ways to go with customer service.

Disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/21/05
Based upon the "Best food in Juneau" commentary I stayed at the Breakwater Inn. I agree with some of the comments concerning the food at the restaurant, but the motel itself was disappointing. My room was only made up half of the time and the room I had facing the harbor was the noisiest room I have ever experienced. The road running in front of the motel is the busiest road in Juneau, with traffic running from 5:30 AM in the morning until about midnight. Don't plan on opening your window if you have a harbor view room. Forget the balcony. If you do plan on staying at the Breadwater Inn, request a room facing the mountains. Much quieter. The desk people were pleasant and the bar had a friendly atmosphere.

Loved the Customer Service
By Donovan & Cece, 06/08/05
I basically loved the customer service! The people are extremely helpful and friendly - but I think this is the way it is all over this town. My room was comfortable - I took my 2 children, and our room had bunk beds for them. I believe they are very family-oriented. The location is excellent, beautiful view-right on the ocean, and the restaurant has excellent steaks, and a delicious cobb salad! I recommend everybody to spend a night here, and they will never go anywhere else!

Quaint!
By Terri, 05/16/04
Nice little hotel near the boat harbor, clean rooms, although an older facility. Wonderful Resteraunt! great views! Quiet! right on busline. A good place to mingle with the local fishermen.
