Comfort Inn West, Duluth

As others stated, we were required to argue to remove the safe charge from our room. They also billed both the card that i made my reservation with and the card that I presented at check in. This has been rectified. In addition, the front desk began calling guests at 10:30 PM to ask if anyone had motorcycles parked under the loading canopy. It seems they did not post parking restrictions, but decided to rectify the problem after people went to sleep. I was called (woken up)to see if I had a motorcycle parked there, or knew anyone that was. I can honestly say that I will never stay at another Comfort Inn again (anywhere).

I am stay in Duluth on business normally once a month. I have stayed in several hotels there but I have made Comfort Inn, my home away from home. The rooms and staff are wonderful and their location makes it easy to get around Duluth.

This was hands down the worst motel I have ever stayed at in my entire life! The room stunk like mold and the front desk staff was rude and not qualified to flip burgers down the street. We were charged because "choice hotels" forgot to activate our gift care and we were told it was "our problem, not theirs". They also have very "shady" tricks they like to play on customers. They won't let you pay up front because you might see they are charging you for a safe most of you won't use. The general manager was no more of a help and sent us a rude letter after we responded to "choice hotels". Please trust me when I say DO NOT STAY HERE OR YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!!

Like one other customer that commented, I think the business practices of this hotel are shady. When you check in, you are asked to initial a couple places and sign to check in. If you don't pay attention and read what your initialing, you can get an extra charge. They place a "safe charge" on your room for the safe (for storing valuables) in your room. It is YOUR obligation to tell them whey you check out that you DID NOT use the same in order to get the charge removed. This seems backwards to me and I'm quite certain that many patrons unknowingly pay the charge if they don't carefully check their bill. Buyer beware!

I used the internet to find this place so I feel I need to write a review. First, I absolutely love Duluth, MN it's such a great place to visit. The hotel is easily accessable from Interstate 35, we had no problem finding it. The hotel is a short drive from Canal Park and all the attractions Duluth has to offer, so just cause it's not on Canal Park was not an issue for me. I'd rather pay half of what those hotels charge and stay at the Comfort Inn. The Comfort Inn was very clean, had a friendly staff who were very helpfull in recomending restaurants and entertainment. They had a great continental breakfast (they have a waffel iron and you make your own homemade waffels and they were excellent, the pool and hot tub hit the spot after a cool evening on Lake Superior. Duluth was not our final destination on this trip and we stayed in several hotels during our travels and I can say without a doubt that this was the best place we stayed. I will definately stay there again and can't wait to get back to Duluth.

Out of all the hotels I have stayed in when visiting Duluth, this is definitely my favorite. The room was clean and comfortable. The pool area was nice and the breakfast was great. I would definitely stay there again.

This hotel is really easy to find, right off the interstate, and only minutes from the hustle and bustle of the city of Duluth. It has a great breakfast!... with waffles, toast, cereal, coffee, cappuccino and much more!! I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Duluth area. The only downfall I would say is that the kleenex and toilet paper were almost like cardboard... you may want to bring your own!!!

Stayed two nights recently. Quiet, clean, great breakfast, super staff, etc. Would stay their again, anytime. The fellow who complained about the safe charge must not stay in hotels too often. Many hotels do the same thing, one just needs to have them take the safe charge off the bill.
