Not Good
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/10/07
This Hotel was the worst I have ever experianced. Air conditioner didn't work, No hot water pressure in shower,Sleeping on the floor would have been softer than the bed. TV went out. Hallways smelled like urine, People smoking in the elevators, Throwing up outside the main doors. There was a Rave party going on. It was so loud too after midnight. This was the worst place you could imagine. When I called about the air conditioner, I was told there was nothing they could do. Just wanted to know when I was checking out. I will pay the extra $80 to stay somewhere else.

Not so ready for people
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/16/07
The carpet was filthy. The artificial bathtub was cracked. Could have torn your feet on the jagged edges. The linen looked to be clean. The sofa in the living room area was not so clean neither was the chair. There was no iron even though there was an ironing board. The Lucille and Ethel's diner was wonderful. The breakfast plate was inexpensive and the service was great. There seemed to be transient people roming the hallways. The hotel looked as if it was doubling as shelter.

Run down
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/15/07
This hotel needs updating and a good cleaning. The attached coffeeshop is the best thing about the place. Good and inexpensive breakfast. Had to ask for a cleaner room and they gave us one. It took a while to get us an iron never did get the clean towels. It is just worn out.

We will definitely stay here again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/08/06
GREAT SERVICE--GREAT LOCATION--GREAT PRICE - I can not understand all the negative reviews. The rooms were clean and the staff was terrific. I knew we would like it the minute I walked in the door and saw the victorian carpet and marble lobby. We spend a lot of time in Detroit during the summer going to Tiger games. This will now be our Hotel when traveling to Detroit.

An acquired taste...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/04/06
This hotel was authentic and in need of some repair, but the service was excellent. The employees tried to accomodate us as much as possible, but if you're expecting a five star hotel, go elsewhere. The Leland was definitely built in the 20's and reminded me of The Overlook in The Shining. I enjoyed my stay, it's location was within walking distance of almost everything!

Awsome
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/05/06
I had an awsome time at the Leland Hotel in downtown Detroit! It is a very convient location! There is gated parking for the hotel, a diner located at the base of the building and also a convienent store. There are also three bars with in the building! I very much enjoyed my stay and I have recommened to all my friends..that when in detroit....

Never again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/03/06
This place was horrible. It was listed under Ramada, so that is what we thought we were getting. The first clue should have been that it had a sign called The Leland out front. We thought we had the wrong place. After checking with the desk we were told we were being upgraded (btw, the foyer had a mildew smell). Well, our "upgrade" was a apartment type suite. The elevator smelled like mold, then the hallway on the 17th floor had lights out and it reeked of curry. The hotel room had a layer of dust on everything, the kitchen sink and the bathtub were extremely slow draining (45 minutes and counting for the tub), there was hair in the tub and a dirty floor towel folded in the bathroom. No remote, no hairdryer and no iron (I did not bring these items because I have stayed at "Ramada" inns before and they had them). And, the air conditioner did not work - so much for the idea of using that to dry my hair. I went to Detroit for a job interview, and was extremely irritated, however, we did not have alot of choices at midnite. The windows opened, however, there are no safety screens or anything - VERY dangerous when you are on the 17th floor. Oh yes, the pop machine was out of everything except diet coke. I would not recommend this hotel for anyone unless you are only using it for an hour... Never again.

Awful Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/21/06
This may be one of the worst hotels in the world. What was Ramada thinking? Sleep in your car but do not stay here. Dirty nasty falling apart dump
