Unfreindly Staff in a cold sterile design
By miro, 7/5/11
My review is mixed. I loved the physical layout and location; was put off by the cold, unwelcoming, aloof manner of the staff as well as the exorbitant prices. I stayed at this hotel for three days in early July to attend the Montreal Jazz Festival. The hotel has an excellent location between Old Montreal and Downtown. My room was large and well appointed. The hotel facilities were clean and orderly. The overall design aesthetic of the hotel reflected a clean classic modernism that I liked. However, even though I was pleased with the location, hotel style, and room, I was somewhat amazed at the sense of sterility that was made more pronounced by the near-total detachment of the hotel staff. Let me be clear, the staff were were not rude, but were clearly not welcoming and warm. Throughout my stay, I had many opportunities to pass by maids, doormen, valets, servers, and never once was I greeted with a "hello/ or bonjour"....or asked how am I enjoying my stay... as incredible as it sounds even when I checked out, the front desk clerk didn't even say am obligatory "I hope you enjoyed your stay". To accentuate this glacial chill from the staff, as I was leaving, the doorman was reading a paper and never inquired if I needed a taxi hailed to take me to the airport. Incredible, but true. Other Cons of this hotel are as follows: 1) No dedicated business center ( you must use an antiquated computer with a tiny 10 inch display on the conceriege's office. 2) No free wi-fi (expect to pay 10.00 extra per day) free wifi is a standard in most upscale hotels (no to mention mcdonalds and and Starbucks ) 3) Somewhat exhorbitant pricing border on gouging, for example: 2 phone calls totaling less than 3 minutes to Toronto cost me over $23; Half liters of water will cost you 7.00. I left an ipad charger in one room by mistake and phoned the hotel if they could retrieve it and mail it to me. They found the charger and said they would mail it to me for $67.00. Unbelievable. So, if you don't mind the chill of indifference, nor being nickel and dimmed at every turn, then this hotel is for you.

In an emergency Great.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/3/11
Our room was great and service was out of this world... We stayed 3 night, and on the third night at 5 AM we got a call form our son in Phoenix AZ, that his twin brother had been injured in an accident with a major brain injury. We needed to get back to Phoenix as soon as possible... I call the hotel operator, told him what was happening, he help me contact the airlines. As a result of his help Air Canada made our reservations on US Air. We where able to get back to Phoenix by 5 PM. We left our car at the airport... But the hotel could not have been nicer to my wife and I... We you go to Montreal this is the place to say... If you want something special call in advance and they will try to get it for you...If you are hand-caped they will make it very easy for you and not have you waiting at the front counter.

Disappointing
By TerriC, 6/27/09
We did have a great view. The room was very pleasant. The service was horrible and a disappointment for the Intercontinental. It really ruined the experience.

great place, excellent value for money
By schuklenk, 7/16/08
stayed there quite a few times (in fact, again this friday). the location is ideal in the middle between st catharine and the old part of town, the rooms are large, kingsized beds perfect, nice bathrooms, cool flatscreen tv's, the pool is just right if u enjoy a swim. don't park in its parking lot, their allocated spaces are at the very bottom of the garage, so major hassle driving down there and out again, better use public car parks that are a block away, unless you've piles of luggage. btw, great coffeeshop just a block away (toward the old part of town).

great location!
By diraC, 5/26/07
We had a very great stay here. This place was just a short walk away from Old City and down town shopping on St. Rue Cathrine and much much more. The staff was helpful when needed. We definitely felt that we got the best value for our money from priceline. Only thing was we couldn't find the check-in desk upon arrival (it's up the elevator!), we had to drive 9 floors under the hotel to park and the $14 day charge for internet! (who are these ppl kidding!!!!!)

Internet $14/day!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By Puddys, 4/9/07
Any hotel that would charge $14/day for business travellers doesn't deserve my business. They also charges us for mini bar we didn't use. Even Notel 6 and Super 8 offer free internet in small town USA and Canada

Highly recommend the InterContinental Montreal
By Leslie, 7/26/06
We stayed at this hotel for a last-minute romantic getaway and we were very pleased. The service at this hotel is excellent. All of the hotel staff, including the reception desk, concierge, housekeeping, bartenders, waiters, and doormen were very friendly, pleasant, and polite. Everyone greets you with a smile and a “bonjour!” when you walk by. Catherine at the concierge desk helped us plan our daily activities by making recommendations and booking reservations for us. She always had a smile on her face. We don't know what we would have done without her!!! We booked a standard room with a king size bed. The room was extremely comfortable and a lot larger than we expected. It had a small foyer area and closet when you walk in, so you don't walk right into the bed like you do at most hotels. We had a small sitting area with a chaise lounge and a big, comfy chair in front of the armoire that housed the TV. There was also a desk and chair for business travelers, a bench in front of the bed, and 3 phones (one on each side of the bed and the third in the bathroom). The bathroom had marble flooring and countertop. The bed and pillows are VERY comfortable. The hotel is conveniently located in Old Montreal and is within blocks of the main attractions (Notre-Dame Basilica, Old Port, Crescent Street and downtown). We highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning to visit Montreal. This is definitely where we will stay the next time we’re in town.
