Very Disappointing

Given the Sheraton name, I expected much more than this hotel had to offer. We reserved two non-smoking rooms, but at check-in, we were assigned two smoking rooms. We had to argue to get what we had reserved. The room was very small for a "suite." It seemed more like a standard hotel room with a wall down the middle.
My biggest complaint, however, was the cleanliness of the room. When we arrived at the room, the first thing we noticed was a hole in the sheet on the bed. We also noticed dirty marks on the wall and the bed sham. When it came time to go to sleep for the night, we found that the extra pillow stored in the dresser had blood stains all over one side of it. As if that was not enough, when we pulled the pull-out sofa out, the sheets had not been changed and it had garbage from the last guest folded into it! Housekeeping seems to have just skimmed the room rather than fully inspect it.
After our initial problems, however, the service from the staff at the hotel greatly improved. They were able to offer directions and suggestions for nearby sights and restaurants.
One suggestion for Sheraton: offer complimentary amenities with each stay. When guests are charged for local calls, internet, water, and everything else in the room, why are we paying so much to stay there? If I ever travel back to this area of Chicago, I will not be staying at the Sheraton Suites.
